Is it worth the extra dollars

We have a 2102 Flying Cloud 25 FB. We are considering purchasing a newer version 27 or 28 Flying Cloud. I know all the physical changes and benefits, My question is, was it worth the extra money for the extra 2 or 3 feet or do you wish you had kept the money in your pocket and stayed with the 25

Yes the walk around queen, extra space and ducted AC is worth it. Life is short and you can't take your money with you.

We really like the 28’. It has a nice lounge area. That is what sold us on the 28’. The only real noticeable difference between the 28’ and the 30’ International Serenity is the closet space is bigger in the 30’. And I think there may be a window in the bathroom in the 30’. The bedroom in the 28’ and 30’ are the same size, and have the same lounge area size. And with the 28’ I don’t have to pull it with a 3/4 ton. My F150 with Propride works just fine. Would be different if we had a 30’.

Some people like the twin beds. It does make getting in and out of the bedroom a bit easier.

P.S. You want two AC units.

It's worth it, in my opinion, IF, one would move from the L shaped configuration to the layout that provides a couch separate from the dinette.....from a 25 to at least a 28.

As far as 28 vs 30 differences, there are numerous. One thing I like about the 30 is having the 54 gallons of water on board.

Yes, we traded a 2016 25’RB for a 2019 28’. Love the walk around bed and the convenience of watching TV..and when the grandkids are with us, we can still use the dinette while they sleep on the couch. The 28’ seems a lot more spacious when you first walk in. Definitely worth it.

If you are "thinking", I would not zero in on a specific model early in the process. Head over to a dealer and spend a day (or more) sitting in this and that model. You already have a pretty good idea of what to look at (having an AS already). There are lots of little details that can make a pretty big difference. Can you sit here or there? It there room to get past this or that? Does the location of this or that make sense for the way *you* like to live?

The size differences between the various 26,27,28 models are pretty minimal. The prices also are not that different across those sizes. Yes, you do pay a bit more (but not a lot more) going up the line model wise.

If you are going from what you have to a brand new trailer, then indeed you *will* shell out some cash. You also will get a 3 year warranty and all the latest bling. If you are going from your trailer to a "couple years newer" trailer, the cash outlay *might* not be all that much. An enormous lot depends on the shape of your trailer and just what you can find out there.

Right now is a great time to shop for a trailer and a bad time to sell a trailer (assuming you *are* shopping in Canada or the northern part of the US). If you have a giant pile of gold laying around, buy now and sell in the spring. If you go with the "sell first" that most of us are stuck with, waiting until spring might be a better approach.

Indeed we went over *thinking* that a 25 FC was going to be the right thing for us. We had done a lot of internet research and talked to various AS owning friends. Once we got over to Colonial and sat in the 25, we found things that were not obvious from the brochures. We hopped around between various models and found that indeed, even moving up a bit took care of a number of "pinch points" and concerns.

Yes, at the end of the day, we went a bit crazy. That *is* a risk in all this That said, we are on our third season in the trailer. Each year we use it a few more weeks than the previous year. Sitting here drinking coffee and watching Yellowstone appear out of the lifting fog .... no regrets. ( Other than maybe wishing it was Lake Louise right over there ... ).

We went from a 23' International (which we loved) to a 28" International. We were spending more time in the AS and the lounge space, twin beds and ducting are worth their weight in gold!

We have a 28ft flying cloud and just finished a 3 month trip. Your trailer feels like it shrinks after a month on the road.

We moved from a 22 to 25 then a 27 with grand lounge. For us, worth the cost and we still manage in NF and State parks. But overall only you can judge your usage vs costs. Everyone is different we have had twins in the 25 and 27. Love the extra dressing room and more space at the foot of the twin beds. Cushion storages. But it is all about money and what you want. Others will say not worth it. We have 2 acs with ducted air absolutely love it. But then others will say you don’t two ac or ducted air. But be in the SW or south. You will appreciate it. Everyone had their own rodeo. Just because others love or hate the increased space or bed configuration should not be your determining factors.

I spent hours in a 25 EB on a lot in Pismo.
As a full timer in a 40' 5er, I was looking to downsize.
I just couldn't get past the spice rack/pantry, fairly useless to me, and lack of closet space.
I was hoping my 27 EB would find its' way down the production line.

We had a 2000 25' Safari for 18 years. Traded in on a 2018 28' Flying Cloud. 14 months later traded in on a 2020 30' Flying Cloud.

We wanted a walk around bed and a little more room. The 28' FC just was not perfect. The 30' Flying Cloud gave us a foot in the lounge, a foot in the galley and a foot in the bathroom. Across from the bathroom, we got a larger wardrobe.

We are spending between three and four months at a time each year plus an extra week or weekend here and there. We upgraded our tow vehicle for the 30'.

Yes. Climbing over my wife and dogs to go to the bathroom 5 times a night was a hassle for everyone involved. We upgraded to 27' in January.
My marriage is now back in balance. The dogs no longer snarl at me in the middle of the night. The sunrises are a little more stunning. My 401-k plan is performing a little better. My gin-tonics are a little more refreshing. And my skin complexion is a little more smooth.
So..........yes, 2 feet of length is worth the $.

We had a “mini-25”, the FC23FB queen and decided to go bigger. Wife felt a 25’ Globetrotter would be fine but the difference in price was negligible (before the Jan 2019 price increase).

We went with the 27’; the difference in space is well worth it in the kitchen. Usable pantry and pull-out microwave were big pluses for us. It really comes down to how much you plan to use it and your budget. Like others have said, you can’t take it with you!
