Forward Bedroom or Aft Bedroom

Hi,
I'd like to get opinions on who likes forward bedrooms and why and who likes aft bedrooms and why. We currently have a 2006 30 ft. Classic with rear Queen and are thinking of getting a newer model 27 ft. Classic with front bedroom. One reason I like the rear bedroom is because I think it might be somewhat more quiet away from street noise and maybe a little more privacy. However, I also like the idea of having the kitchen and living area windows facing rear for better views. Also, is it easier to put a bike rack on the forward bedroom models due to the storage area on the outside? I'm just trying to consider all options. Thanks for your opinions.

I guess I like to monitor the activity around me during the day, and a rear bedroom accommodates that. If the really good view is to the rear, I try to plan to get a site that is angled to the view or allows for perpendicular parking. A good example might be a lake side site that allows me to park the trailer parallel with the shoreline. We also find that generally on back in sites, the rear of the site is usually quieter, especially if you like to open the rear window at the back of the trailer.

The 25 FC is offered as front or rear bed, we compared both and picked rear bed. Here's why.

The 25 FC floor plan was better for us, larger bath with window, gas and conv/microwave oven, less seldom-used lounge seat, and easily convertible to recliner seating with large folding side table.

Is the rear view better? Sometimes, but not always. The view out the front is never bad for us, especially when visiting an RV park with another camper parked behind us. We do not leave our truck connected in front unless it's a quick overnight stop, and when we do the access to the truck is more convenient.

We enjoy the living room in the front, seeing who's coming and going from within the privacy of our tinted pano window rock guard.

It is usually quieter in the back of the Airstream for sleeping in campgrounds, especially when noisy rigs are leaving very early in the morning.

Campgrounds are often set up to accommodate front door better, less step-down height, slab location, table and lounge chairs are not between the door and front of the site.

It's good that Airstream offers rear dinette models, as well as some with the living space in the middle. Which is better? It's like everything, mine is better for me and yours is better for you. At least until we get something different, then that will be better. We are an adaptable group.

We opted for the rear bedroom in our 25 FC. In the 25RB the bathroom is larger, a lot more outside storage however, you give up some inches in the front lounge area. Regarding the view, with the rear lounge models you most likely will be looking at the RV behind you unless you're fortunate enough to get that once in a while beautiful view. It all comes down to what your preferences are.

We chose the front bedroom and are very happy with it. I'd say 90% + of the time we have a nice view from the lounge area - often a spectacular view. We usually camp in state or national parks or boondock. The negative that someone mentioned above is the inability to put in 2 recliners in the lounge area if you want to make that change. The negative for us in the rear bedroom is the view. 100% of the time it will be the back of your tow vehicle.

27FB fan here. Both have pros and cons.

Biggest pro of FB from my perspective is view (goooooood morning Atlantic Ocean! &#128516.



We would have loved to have done the double recliner conversion but as has been mentioned, single was the only practical option. But this doesn't suck either:

So true, we had a 28RB FC that was great and now we have a 27FB FC that is even greater. So a vote for FB. Works for us.

I'll have to dig up the thread but we had ours done at the mothership in Jackson Center. We were inspired by the Kottums who did the double recliner conversion in their RB. The recliner is the Villa International which we had drop shipped to the factory and the table was cut down at the factory after a GREAT discussion with one of the techs there. They really did an amazing job.

It could be done without them but I'm all thumbs :-)

We prefer the front bedroom because 99% of the time, the best view is out the back of the trailer and we spend more time looking out the window at our dining room table than we do looking out over the top of the bed.

Of course, 90% of the time we are outside so this only applies to 99% times 10% = 9.9%!

Why Mrs. Welsh, I do believe you know a good carpenter who could modify that little ol table to make room for your "Queen" size recliner.

We have had a front bedroom trailer and a rear bedroom trailer. I have no preference. This trailer, rear bedroom, is just the previous trailer turned around. I like one way as well as the other.

We've always had either mid, or rear bedroom trailers, but I'm sure there are advantages to the front bedroom trailers. We've looked at them, and our main objection is the uncomfortable bench seating in the rear.

27FB furnace moved forward, small bar with drawers and a storage shelf, recliner love seat is temporary until we can find 2 recliners we can agree on. At that point a folding table between the chairs will be added

We have a 25 FB and appreciate the view from the dinette. I thought about the rear bed option and realized I would spend my days looking at the back of the car or out at the road.

We have many, many months of camping in our 25 Front Dinette model with pano windows front and rear and can tell you the view out the back is not always pleasant and sometimes the view out the front isn't that pleasant.

But then who's stuck inside looking out when your traveling and camping anyway. Better to look at all the features of a camper when shopping. Will it function for you, is it comfortable for long term use, does it have the space and equipment you need, are the appliances conveniently located, do you like the seating and sleeping arrangement. You won't appreciate the view from anywhere if the chair isn't comfortable.
