After more than 1,700 nights in an FB, I don't think that I would ever go for an RB. I say this mainly because of the view from the dinette window.

After more than 1,000 nights in a RB, we would not choose the FB unless we had to, such as a specialty trailer like the Eddie Bauer. The rear view can be great and it can be very bad; the front view is never bad. And there are practical reasons for door near the front, one of which is our recliners face aft and we don't have eyes in the back of our head. Another is the deeply tinted rock guards provide a sun and visibility screen to our living room, we can see out but they can't see in, and the sun glare and heat gain is reduced.

However, it's all really not that important or everyone would agree which is best.

After two SOB trailers with rear bedrooms, I thought I'd try something different so we got our 27 FC Front Bedroom. We're on the road now, our third vacation in this trailer and the configuration has really grown on me. We stop in rest areas when we're on the road and I like sleeping next to our TV for security reasons. After towing 31' & 33' SOB's, our 27FC is a dream to maneuver.

I think a floor plan which is like my 30 rear bed, but actually just flipped with the front set up without the panoramic windows, but with the closets, I would like that. This would allow the nice view from my recliners out the back, which would be very cool. Or, with the dinette and possibly a more functional galley.

Who knows....

I currently enjoy a 34 ft diesel pusher but grow more enthusiastic about perhaps an Airstream. My question: I've never pulled a trailer. Is there a big difference in maneuverability from AS trailers from 25 to 31? I'll fit an engine to pull I just would appreciate pros and cons. And is there a sweet spot length? Thank you all!

Welcome to the forum.

This particular thread is really about front bedroom vs. rear bedroom, so if you want to have a lengthy discussion it's probably best to start a new thread. For now, I'll just say the key difference is that backing a trailer is quite different from backing a motor home. It's not particularly difficult to learn, but it will quite be a different way of thinking as you back up.

Main difference between those lengths is the length of the site in which you can park your RV. Given you already have a 34' Class A, if you also have a Toad the total length of a trailer-based rig probably won't be much greater, even if you went with a 31' trailer.

Had a rear bedroom 25 foot traded to a front bedroom 27 foot, happy for the move. Seems more open space and over all feel. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I know this is an older thread, however, having just purchased an AS Excella 25, it has twins/rear bedroom. Been used to that in our other trailers as well.

We like the FB, we’ve had that in every trailer & 5th wheel we’ve owned. Usually the best view is in the back and the head of our bed faces the back so I only notice my TV when getting into bed. There are so many windows in today’s AS’s that normally, you get a good view regardless.
