gvwr 1953 Cruiser

Hi Everybody,
I own a 1953 AS cruiser and I live in the Netherlands I imported the AS from the US.
I went to the Dutch DMV to get my Dutch title for it.
However it failed inspection because they want to know the weight the axle can carry.
The trailer is 24 foot single axle and the weight is arround 2860 lbs .
The axle is made by Toroless Axle & Buldog couplers no 8876.
Is there anyone who knows to calculate the gross weight this axle can hold ,trailer and load.
Or anyone who has more info about this axle.
Thanks sofar Wessel

Unhappy gvwr 1953 cruiser

Hi I have a 1953 cruiser single axle.
I imported from the US to The Netherlands and the Dutch DMV to get my Dutch title but they need to know the axle gwvr.
That will be the weight the axle can have include the loading you haul like a watertank and other stuff you take with you wile camping.
The drums are 12" and the shoes are 1 3/4".
This is the orginale axle with electric brakes made by hammer blow tool co manufator of toroles axle&couplers.
I tried to google this but can't find any info about it. If you have or know any info about it please let me know .
Or email any info to wesselb@zonnet.nl
Thanks Wessel

Do A Search

Did you look for a tag on the axle?
If no tag then make up some reasonable number.
Who would know?
Do not propose a weight greater than is reasonable.
3,500 or 3,750lbs is reasonable, do not overload, even your imagination.
Make it a number that converts roughly to a similar European class of trailer.
Remember, it is all on the level, something from the Colonies.

My 1953 Airstream Cruiser axle was rated at 6000 lbs.
I had to replace it and a 6000 was the one recommended and matched the size of the old one.

I forgot to mention that my brakes were Warner Electric brakes not Hammer blow...And the brakes didn't work, which was why I had to replace the axle. Warner was no longer making those brakes or parts for them.
