We have spent the last couple of weeks deep in the dreaming stage, and now we move to planning. We have a couple of general questions to help us get started.

Is there any structure (frame) behind the plastic end caps?
Why do people recommed upgrading to 50 amp service?
It seems like haveing the plumbing and electrical system share the same space is a mistake where would you relocate the electrical system?
What is the best upgrade/change you made, why?
What change did you make that did not work out so well, why?

Speaking from an Airstream perspective:
1. No frame behind the end caps
2.50 amp for lots of electronics. 30 amp is just fine for me
3. I don't have a problem with electric/ plumbing location. Of course 110 v needs more caution than 12v.
4. New furnace, new axles, Safe ride hitch
5. Back up camera on trailer, limited and distorted view

Echo on Lumatic for 1, 2, 3. I would add replacement of the Univolt with a modern unit as a plus in 4. Get a CO detector or a combo propane/CO detector if you plan to keep the furnace you have. Nada for 5. Everything I've replaced or added has worked well for me. The axle replacement was also a way to raise the height of the trailer which made it easier to tow behind a 4X4.

Oh, yeah. Sunscreen for the front windows a BIG plus. You don't want to lose those curved windows. Don't ask how I know.

Ditto on Argonaut's Univolt replacement. While on the subject I would add a 2nd battery. AGM if you can afford it. Sunscreen is more commonly called a rock* guard or window guard.

*I am willing to bet this has something to do with Argonaut's secret.

Well life has finally settled down and yesterday we got started cleaning the trailer out. Found some more floor rot and a couple of previous owners repairs that left us scratching our heads but overall it was a good day to be rebuilding an Argosy.

Welcome GoNomad! I'm right up the road north of Charlotte

We have a 76 28' Center bath argosy that I'm in the middle of restoring and can't wait to watch your progress as I'm doing mine at the same time. this is a great forum with lots of helpful people!

I drive through Charlotte all the time for work. I look forward to seeing your progress and sharing stories as we both move forward. Looking forward to the day when we can meet in a campground somewhere and show off our Hard work and good looking Argosys.

Hey barleyhound I have some great friends in kannapolis. They also have family in Davidson. We travel there occasionally. Would love to see your camper and see your progress. Love these argosys

Davidson is only about 15 miles and Kannapolis 40 miles from us here in Mooresville, NC...sure is a small world! I received my por15 starter kit in the mail today and can't wait to start on the end caps...
