Opened like a sardine can.

Not a pretty sight, this Argosy trailer got side swiped by forklift.

eBay Motors: AIRSTREAM 1975 ARGOSY JUST THE TRAILER WINDOWS ONLY!! (item 220159629588 end time Nov-10-07 18:56:35 PST)

I think I'll stay as far away from forklifts as I can.

Brad

He "rescued" one of the irreplaceable front curved windows and broke the other trying to get it out. There goes its value as a parts trailer. $700????? Hah!

Bob- That is $700 for one road side front window. He gave the Argosy to the tracktor driver as what? A reward for smashing it up?

Rebar

I work for a place that build precast concrete buildings. We make the whole building up as components in our factory, ship them to the site, and put them together with a crane. Kind of like kid's blocks for grownups

Anyway, we often have these massive concrete wall panels going down the road and they have 2' long pieces of rebar sticking out of them. Well, this was before my time there, but apparently some years ago a guy pulling a travel trailer went to pass one of our trucks out on the road and he got in too close and a #11 rebar (about 1 3/8" diameter) ripped into the side of his trailer and opened it right up. They said it wasn't an Airstream, but a white box trailer.

Just the same, I was thinking "Man I'd sure be ticked if I did that!" Talk about a can opener!

Stay away from wide loads and construction equipment!

Ouch! The salvage value should be more that 700 bucks. Our local recycler offers 60 cents per pound for sheet aluminum. Hassle factor can't be calculated, but there are parts on that argosy that could be sold, including the endcaps.
