Talking New to us argosy 1976 24' here we go!

Hi Ya'll! JUST towed our new to us 1976 Argosy 24' home and am ready to let the fun begin! We live on an old farm in far (science fiction cold) northern Minnesota. As evidenced by the hi ya'll salutation, I married a Minnesotan (grew up in Mississippi/Dallas) and here I am soon to be complaining about being cold yet again. We bought our old farm last year and it has a teeny house, enough for Steve and I, but zero room for guests. So, I decided I wanted an Airstream for the actual company (not the fake entertaining they babble about on House Hunters).

Found a 24' Argosy in decent shape on CL (no sofa etc but working electric and such) for $750 - I'm still giddy over THIS!

I have 432 bazillion questions...but will start with this...

We are setting up the trailer as 100% a cabin, not to be moved. Don't care about resale, it will stay a cabin. The husband had a small remodel/contracting business so he CAN do anything. CAN is the operative word...sigh.

Has anyone else here done one that was not gonna be mobile? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. He is going to tap into septic and well for that part.

Since it IS almost October I want to keep it close to the house or my office building to be able to heat it and do interior over the winter. I'm rambling...stopping now...

Kathy
EXCITED to do this!!!

Sounds fun and like you got a great deal. I have a 75 22' that was already gutted that I'm working on. It will be an adventure for sure. This forum is amazing, utilize that search bar as much as possible. Also (And hopefully others won't get mad at me for posting this) we have a cool group for Argosy owners on facebook! Start a blog and keep up with your progress. Others can then learn from you!

Hi Kathy. Good luck with your project. We picked up a '77 24 footer about 3 years ago. We use it for camping about 3 or 4 times a year. I have replaced the tires and the back of the frig and have done a new paint job. Next project for me is to replace the copper tubing with PEX pipe. It's a great trailer.

I just bought a part from a guy whose Airstream was crushed by snow, so be careful! If you are heating the interior, you should be ok. Just keep it from accumulating too much on the roof up there in MN.
