Talking Lustworthy 1978 28' Argosy Airstream!

Ok, yes I am still looking at Airstreams, yes we found our lovely lady, but I am only looking for ideas, just looking honest!

That's my story and I am sticking too it, but look at this 28' Argosy 1978 Beauty, pretty unique yes?

That's how it started for us. We went to a RV show just to have a look. Two months later we owned our first trailer.

I love to look as well.... but I have 3 now and not going to buy any more. That is unless the guy with the 1947 airstream liner (#1032) takes me up on the offer I made him last fall.

Sprouty what do you do with 3 of them! I can see having a small one for short trips or adventures, and one larger one for longer trips.

Or even one to use and one to restore... but three? You are busy!

That's a long story and you are right on the money about having one to use while working on the second. I originally bought the 59 Avion to restore and start using it on short trips as a type of experiment to see if it was something we wanted to do some day when we retire. I started working on it and realized it was going to be huge project to do it to the level I want. I also realized I love working on them. I bought the 73 Argosy ( $400.00) thinking I could do a quick refresh and start using it right away. Well it turned into a big job as well but I am going to stick with it and get it done so we have something to use this year. The 47 popped up out of the blue and we thought we might never have a chance pick one up again so we grabbed it. Then I was contacted by the owner of a second 47 liner last fall when he saw me interviewed on local TV about my airstream hobby. We could not agree on a price so that deal is on the back burner. The plan now is to get the 73 up and running and start using it late this summer. Then start on the 59. When the 59 is finished sell the 73 and start on the 47. When the 47 is done sell the 59 and so on. We plan to keep the 47 and I consider the 73 and 59 as practice for the 47. Hopefully I will get pretty go at this restoration stuff. I might even start offering restoration services someday down the road.

Makes sense when you tell the story that way

Similar for us:
Knew we wanted one, came from tents then a pop up. New was out of the budget so we looked around for used and thought we would just keep trading up. We lucked out and found a 65 24' TW double locally. Made it safe to tow, and lots of cleaning and we have a great aluminum tent. Realized we wanted a dedicated bed plus the great storage we have in this one so we spotted a 62 28' Ambassador. This one has everything underneath and in the walls already done with a empty interior.

So both need lots of work but are towable and campable. Plan is to plug along on both for a while and grow our fondness for the 62 as we separate ourselves from the 65 and maybe let another family realize their dream.

Hooked but good.........

Reading the stories on this site, we don't "Own" our trailers, we have "Relationships" with them...

Hooked but good .... the perfect description!
