LED lights
I have a 73 Argosy and want to go LED on brake and clearance lights. Has anyone done this? Have specifications on what and where to order?

Stop in at any truck stop and you will most likely find a dispaly of what is available. The markers lights are easily replaced with off the shelf units.
As for the brake lights you will not find direct replacements. This tread may give you some ideas.

My approach starts with post #40.
Do not consider "bulb replacements" as the lens for your brake light was designed for a bulb. The focusing of the light through the lens will not work with the replacement LEDs

I replaced mine a few days ago, and while my solution may not be for everyone, it was cost effective and worked out pretty great for me. I bought the 4 inch round LED trailer lights from Harbor Freight.
I took them home and used a grinder to grind the outer rim down a bit (if you buy them you can see a rib that you need to grind to and that makes a easy to recognize stopping point.) Then it fit right in the round holes on my trailer.
I have to admit I used RTV silicone to hold them in there. They wont be easy to take out, but if i need to remove them i will just break them out.... no need to remove them unless they have failed anyway.
Say goodbye to frustrating brake light issues.

Nick, call Dan Brown at Out Of Doors Mart, he recently introduced a line of simple replacement LED's for the tail lights and back up lights. Hope this link works. Red 1157 socket 42 LED pad 1157P48x68R [1157P48x68R] - $19.95 : ODMRV , Out-of-Doors Mart
As for the clearance lights ,they carry them also or you can get them at most truck stops. Dan's prices are pretty good though. I bought alot of stuff from him while restoring my Argosy. Good Luck, george.
Had to edit this post. As far as the backup lights are concerned, what I did was to eliminate the backup lights and wire in an extra set of brake/stop lights. It's very easy to do but you will need to replace the fixture to the stop light fixture. Not hard to do and you get 2 brake/stop lights per side instead of just the one.

www.led4rv.com has both.
The clearance/running in the 16 LED
Click here to see the Amber
Click here to see the Red
When it comes to your stop/turn that maybe a little tricky. If you have the fiber optic indicator You may have to use the 1157 bulb. They are not real real bright but they work.
If you don't have the fiber optic indicator, or if you don't mind giving that up, for a very bright stop and turn.
Then use this one.
For your backup you can use this one.
Or this one
I have seen them work, they look good.

Nick.
The fiber optic system was a tail light monitor system, that was only installed on just a few years of Airstream's only.
The optic wires, if you wish, are plastic wires that ran from the back side of the tail lights, to the monitor on the road side of the trailer.
At night, from the drivers seat of your tow vehicle, you could see both the tail lights and brake lights, if they were properly working.

Round plastic LED tail lights and back up lights that fit the early 70's tail light bezels, are also available.

Nick, I should have mentioned that what Out of Doors Mart offers is not just an LED replacement bulb, but actual LED pads that affix to your existing lens, with a socket that plugs right in to the bulb socket. Very Trick. George.
