Waste Management Compartment Update
closed
Compartment closed and locked. It’s nice not to have to deal with the stinky slinky.

Open to turn valves and/or macerator on or off.
Compartment located rear of street side wheels.

Sergei,
I like your waste management compartment approach. I will have to give some thought to doing something similar. I have been intending right along to use a macerator pump but had not finished making up my mind as to where it would be. Things are looking good...

Waste Management Compartment Update #2
Malcolm, Cameron, others:
It’s a wonder you could follow the macerator posting at all. I sent that from an auto dealership while my car was being repaired yesterday.
Their wireless must not be MAC friendly. Let’s try again:
Compartment closed and locked. It’s nice not to have to deal with the stinky slinky.
Compartment opened to turn valves and/or macerator on or off.
The compartment is located rear of the street side wheels.

A macerator pump "chews" up the solids in the pumped fluid prior to being sent through the impeller of the pump. This makes the pumped solids significantly smaller and can thereby be sent through a much smaller pipe or tube. They are used quite often in Waste Water Treatment plants in the transfer stations. The units I was responsible for were fairly large (2 - 16 HP). The units in RV's are typically about 1/2 HP.

Is this something that one could easily add to a trailer, or does it need considerable planning? Could one put such a pump in line between the sewage valve and a hose draining to a sewage line? I'm thinking in terms of the advantage and ease of running a standard garden hose quite a distance to a waste line access rather than running a 3" slinky the same distance. Being able to quickly attach an in-line macerator when the tank needs draining seems like something that may be worthwhile. Any thoughts?

Also check out the black water section here. A few threads on macerators there if I remember correctly.
your desired application is what these pumps were designed for.

begrudgingly reading your posts too see you trudging along nicely.
Leaves me yearning for the day when I will be able to place hammer to nail or gun to rivet.
I can only imagine how long the process will be (for me) as it is almost complete (for you)
It Always looks great. I always love your solutions. I can't wait to see it in person (someday)

We rolled the Mini up onto the Sprinter for the first time last week.
The ramps need a slight modification to change the incline.
Then we’ll be finished, almost.

Well, you're certainly coming to the end of your odyssey, Sergei, and a long and beautiful trip it has been.
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful information you gathered to do this incredible project. I look forward to the "proof of concept" photos at the end, showing you happily chugging off, piloting the whole rig to Key West, or PEI or wherever it is you first travel to in it.

Sweet!! Where do the ramps get stowed? Can you lift them yourself?

Aage, thanks.
Skip, the ramps stow between aluminum angles and on nylon slides on the truck deck, under both the car and the generator.
I can pull them out and position them by myself quite easily.
Pictures at post #520 above show them in the stored position.

DavidsonOverlander made a door for the hatch over the fridge and pantry. It exactly matches the pull-out.
Vince and I installed it last week.

Ah, yes, I see that now. I missed that the first time I looked at the photo.
I'm sure this has been asked but when is the ETTFCT (Estimated time to first camping trip)?
I'm thinking we thread watchers (stalkers?? ) should try and plan to meet you where ever that might be.
