Broken plastic rear light? Argosy facade on rear

Hi...any ideas on a putty to piece/hold together the plastic rear light bar on a 77 argosy? Has broken in two and detached from body...looking for putty or glue ideas to fill cracks,remoldfrom from inside and re-attach.Is there a putty product any knows of that might hold it together? tnx...tom

Can you post some photos? Is the lense broken or just the back part?

Yea...whole housing is cracked and needs repair,is plastic and might be sealed with a high end putty type bondo or epoxy...just wondering if any others have fixed a plastic housing like on the back of the old argosy...tnx..

I too have this issue...I considered removing it entirely but I want to keep the original look (not the leaks though). I haven't tackled it just yet. I am thinking to patch it from the inside with some type of bond/epoxy and smoothing the exterior to original shape.

That is what mine looks like. I have several cracks and holes in the housing that hold the tail lights and Argosy emblem...

Auto parts stores that carry body shop supplies usually carry adhesives that are good for this type of repair. 3M Structural Adhesive is one that comes to mind.

I've wasted a lot of time just now writing a photo illustrated step-by -step example of how we removed the entire bezel when stripping the 1976 Argosy of it's original paint (1 photo); how we rebuilt the bezel using a BONDO Fiberglass Kit, it or similar available at auto supply stores (photos); how we replaced the bezel (photo); how we switched out the original lights for LEDs (photo) and what the trailer with repaired bezel, all in Black and Cooper White looks like now (photo)

When I try to post I get a message saying "exceeds your quota by 19.35 mb". I don't know why.

So the people that might benefit from the help are the losers, not me.

I'm just frustrated.

I'm about to repair mine. There are a couple ways depending on how bad it's cracked. If you take it completely off you can lay some fiberglass down on the inside and pour some resin and spred around. Maybe at least two layers I'm thinking. Before you do this make sure you retain the shape and integrity. Then fiberglass bondo repair the outside and sand to finish.. Primer n paint.
If it's not that bad off just fiberglass bondo it up and sand it smooth.. I'll bet it will just crack in other places though. Im a bit surprised on how thin this piece of plastic was to start. I'm going the resin way for sure either way..
