Decided the old panels wheren't very good looking so to brighten things up I pulled the panels out removed the old covering and replaced it with some birdseye veneer I had. The trial is in place, the rest fit better.
What was most surprising is that honeycomb core cardboard was used for the panels. Extremely light wt. and very inexpensive. The perfect material.

Tarnished - that looks really great! I also pulled my panels and recovered with a beige duck cloth. They looked good until I had them up for a couple of weeks and the then the fabric began to stretch out
I may borrow your idea, as I like the idea of a covering a bit more stiff. Thanks!
