Argosy Lock

The lock on the outside of my Argosy no longer works. I had know idea a lock could be so expensive, $450 I have alot of other work I need to do to the trailer and think thats way to much for a lock. Does anyone know where to buy one cheaper? Also my Argosy is a 1975 22 foot model with the L couch/sofa. My argosy has a table that lets down at the L couch and another to your right when you step in the trailer. I believe that must have been changed a some point. I have not seen any set up that way with 2 tables on opposite ends. There is also a bump and some smaller dents located on the very back upper right of the trailer. The previous owner said a small tree had fell on it. It is not terrible but needs to be fixed. The rest of the body is very good with no dents and the paint is overall good. How would I have the dents and bump taken out. Should I have someone use Bondo and then paint it? Thanks

Hi, Denise. You can find a used lock for about 2/3 the price you were quoted, or you can get a kit from Inland RV to replace your broken one for about half the new price, but some modification of the door is required. Your coach should have two fold out couches, one the L shaped one amidships, and a standard couch across the front, that is how they were built.
As far as the dents, you can have them pulled out and bondo over the remainder, then paint to match the trailer.

I have the handle and lock set pulled from my Argosy right now. I actually need to remove the door to repair the classic bent door fly-open problem. See Inland's parts page. This part #22200 is Inland's remanufactored door handle kit for $239.95; originals are not available unless you get lucky from salvage elsewhere. The nugget here is that you may only need the KT lock core (with new keys) itself and it is something around $50-70 if I recall imperfectly from a conversation I had with Inland last fall. Make sure you talk to somebody who knows your model exactly and just what the problem is before you pay to have it shipped out.
