Antenna Cover

I'm re-painting the Argosy and would like to get rid of the old antenna mount. I'm wary of taking it off before I know how I'm going to cover the holes.
Any thoughts?

Two suggestions. West Marine has water tight plugs is several sizes to plug holes on boats or you could cover with a piece of light aluminum cut to size, well caulked and riveted.

How do you remove the antenna bas? I turn the screws, and the screws just keep turning and turning...

Try pulling out on the base as you turn the screws. Turn one screw some, then move to the next screw and turn it some, then the next. You might be able to get a plastic blade started under the base to help move the base away from the wall as you work the screws.
