A/C help! Argosy minuet 6 metre

Hi all! I have an Argosy 6 metre and am looking to get an air conditioner. I am going away soon and want to order one asap! What a/c would you recommend and if there are any 6 metre owners which they have or would suggest.

Thanks!

Keep one factor in mind. An AC is designed to do 2 things. Cool and Remove Humidity. If you oversize the unit it will cool but will short cycle and never get ahead of the Humidity. For complete comfort a smaller unit will be better. So pick a unit sized for the area you will do most of your camping in.

Make sure the A/C you buy will work on a curved roof.

I've been reading on the forums and found that airstream dealers have drip pans that will direct the water into the drain tube. Do all dometics work with that or only the low profile penguin. Does anyone know?

I'm not sure if the low profile penguin comes with a drip pan, or if you have to purchase it separately. Maybe someone else will chime in who has one.

Just a word of caution if your Minuet doesn't currently have an air conditioner installed:
  • Air Conditioner Prep Package was an option on Minuets so you will want to check to see if your coach has the package (I think most did unless it was special ordered for a customer who didn't want air conditioning). The presence of the Air Conditioner Prep Package can be identified by a plastic junction box cover in the ceiling that conceals the electrical wiring for the Air Conditioner.
  • The mounting point for the Air Conditioner IS NOT the existing vent opening. The opening for the Air Conditioner is cut into the roof a specific measurement behind the Number 1 (front) roof bow. When the roof is opened at that specified point, the condesate drain tube will be found coiled in close proximity.
Good luck with your project!

Kevin
