86 Argosy Travel Trailer

My husband and I are looking at a 1986 Argosy. Are there any specific issues we should be looking at? We are new to the Airstream line of trailers.
Thanks!

The late '80s Argosy trailers are an excellent trailer and an excellent value. They're known affectionately as the "Squarestreams". They don't have the classic Airstream or Argosy shape. They are a more conventional looking trailer with an aluminum skin composite wall construction. Check all of the usual things, floors for rot, and make sure the systems all work. Have the owner demonstrate them for you. Don't accept "it worked last time we tried it." especially if last time was eight years ago. A refridgerator replacement can easily add $1,000 to the price. Make sure the tires are recent (regardless of how they look) and that the wheelbearings have been packed within the past year. Systems that don't work may not be a deal killer, but you may be able to negotiate a better price.

Good luck!

Roger
