5th wheel ?

Why are there none around? Are they defective? What is wrong with them? I have a chance to get a 88 35 footer. Is there something wrong with them?

Hi squid381 -- Welcome to the Forums!

The main issue is probably that Airstream did not sell a lot of these. Go to advanced search. Enter only the word 5th in the key word area; instead of 'Search entire posts,' select 'Search titles only.' There are quite a few discussions of these.

IIRC, the early models were well made and were nicely appointed. They were heavy, though. The later models were made in another Thor factory and had roof leak issues and weren't as well made. Again, this is IIRC.

I think one of the reasons they stopped production was that they didn't sell well. They were Squarestreams and the Squarestream TT's or 5th wheels alike just didn't appeal to the silver bullet market.

5th wheel

The 1988 Argosy and 1989 Airstream 5th wheel trailer where basically the same trailer.Only about 150 or so where made about maybe 5 with slide out.Was called a Squarestream because it looked like it sister tt the Land Yacht that was called a squarestream by classic owners. It was a good trailer. There is lots of info about them under squarestream.
The 1996-1997 Integrity 5th wheel by Airstream was not as well built and had some problems.
