1979 Argosy

We Recently Purchased 1979 Argosy. The Kitchen Is On The Opposite Side Of The Door, The Bath Is In The Middle. The Rear Windows Are Rounded Like The Front. Weve Had It For 3 Weeks And I Cant Seem To Find A Picture Like It. We Purchased It Not Knowing What It Was And Now Ive Fallen In Love. The Title Says 30' But I Know It Isnt Because Of The Extra Window We Dont Have. We Will Be Fixing Some Things -are There Any Stripe Kits For The Paint And General Restoration Parts? Will Keep In Touch

Welcome to the forums.
You probably have an Argosy 28 rear bed, as far as I know, I hav4 never sen an Argosy 30 rtear bed. Argosy trailers of that period had the length on a painted on sign near the front on both sides.
Good luck with your new coach.

Welcome and congratulations on the find. Sounds very unusual. Please post some photos.

Thanks, guys--I knew yours was a rear bed, but didn't know it was a 30.

I'm jealous. I always wanted a 30' Argosy, but just could not find one. Settled for one of those silver thingys, I think they call them Airstreams! Love my Sovereign, but really, really wanted another Argosy. Good luck with yours and post some pictures. I've never seen a rear bedroom 28ft.

Judy, they look pretty much like the 30' trailers, just a bit shorter...

Vintage Airstream Photo Archives They aren't listed on this site in the 26ft, 28ft or 30ft. Would love to see one......would love to have one. Now I'll need to go apologize to my Sovereign this week-end. I do love it with all its room and that glorious rear bedroom.

I really like the rear wing-windows. They let a lot more light in, and if you are in a spot with a view, you get more of that as well.
I remember seeing a very early rear bedroom Sovereign with twins. Both beds backed up to the front wall of the bedroom, so the people in the beds could see out the back window from the beds. If it had been equipped with the extra windows, it would have been great.

The area where the bed is located across from the bathroom is where the closets generally are located. As for length, it looks like it's printed on the side of the trailer at the forward end of the blue stripes. It will say "Argosy28" or "Argosy30" there. I can see something, but the camera angle isn't that good to read it.

If the VIN/serial numbering system stayed the same from '72 on ... the first 2 numbers should be the length.

for instance, my VIN starts 22D2V ..... my argy is 22 ft. I think the next 2 is # of axles, V I can't recall then a running number.

It looks good to me. I think the PO must have had lots of kids because the storage is now sleeping room. I'm sure you can put it back like it was if you want. The storage in these units is wonderful. Good luck. It looks like you got a nice Argosy there.

Nice find!

I'm guessing '78 Argosy 30'
I couldn't find a center bath anywhere but in '78.
But it looks like Happycampers has one from '79?
Check out 78Argosy30
Very cool with the Vista view windows, too.
Welcome to the forums and have fun!

According to my owners manual the models Argosy made in 1979 was 6 Metre Minuet, 6.7 Metre Minuet, 7.3 Metre Minuet, 27 Ft. Twin, 27 Ft. Double, 30 Ft Twin Rear Bath, 30 Ft Double Rear Bath, 30 Ft. Twin Center Bath, 30 Ft. Double Center Bath.

The only difference in this one and ours is the Vista View windows which were Optional and the color of the stripe.

Our Argosy Vin # is 30A9J3197

Close, the second 2 is the year, 1972. By VIN, you should also have a double bed in the center. On a 22, that's pretty much a given. The V is for the Versaille, Ohio, plant.
