1977 Argosy Mod

Bought this 1977 Argosy 24ft this week and did not like the front setup.

So took out the captain's chairs and started to build benches to convert table to bed.

Yes, looking good. That is our setup with a table up front with benches on either side. The table and benches fold down into a large double when needed.

Onto the plumbing

Moving on. Realized that before I continue with the front dinette, I need to fix the plumbing. By fix I mean tear it out and replace. Here is where I am at.

Nice Work!

Hey Picinisco,

Question for you.
I am in search of an Airstream for a restoration project, with hopes of gutting the one I find and making it to my liking.

did you just fix the bench to the flooring with screws, or do you have to use a more intensive approach?

Always liked the idea of a table at the front where the light really comes in.
It looks great!

Sam

Screwed to the floor and the walls. Once the panels are attached it will be very stable.

Mod so far

Relpaced all copper plumbing with Pex. Added water pressure valve in line after city water inlet. Framed in bathroom sink, toilet and changed convertor.

Nice work. Did you move the sink? I liked that you moved the electrical components off the floor. Keep us posted.

Looks great,
I like that you built a platform for the toilet,
In my '77 Safari the toilet just sat on the plastic tank with no support

Yes moved the sink to the right. Put in a stainless steel bar sink. And rerouted the vent pipe.

So back to the beginning. Took the framing back out and the fresh water tank. The front floor is soft and spongy. Need to replace.

You're making great progress.
Is this the front of the trailer?
There's not a lot of support under the front section of my floor under the front gaucho, so the floor is flexible and bouncy even though there's no rot.

So I have discovered. Pulled out the bad section that was rotted. The fresh water tank is leaking around the filler, so it's off to the plastic welder today. Also the plastic behind the filler door just fell apart so that will be coming out and replaced with a marine filler.
