Friends

Wade Thompson, was an oridinary kind of guy, but with a huge purpose in life.

He accomplished what many said, "couldn't" be done.

A genius at work, makes a difficult task, look easy, and that describes Wade to a "T".

If he ever met you, he forever remembered your name.

He will be deeply missed and our prayers go out to him and his family.

Andy

Such a sad day, he definitely made a huge impression on my wife and I when we had a chance to spend some time with him a few years ago.

Thumbs up THOR: Thompson/Orthwein

There is an obit for Thompson in today's WSJ.

In it I learned that THOR is a concatenation of the first two letters of the names of Thompson and Orthwein who purchased Airstream years ago.

Peter Orthwein and the Orthwein family is famous in polo circles. He endowed a chair for the coach of the polo team at Cornell where he was a renowned player in his own right. The family is also descended from the Busch family of St. Louis, Mo.

With this pedigree, perhaps Budweiser should be the semi-official beer of Airstream.

Wade Thompson was my kinda' Airstreamer.

He lived in Scarsdale, NY and on the Upper East Side of Manhattan when he wasn't out in Ohio and devoted much time and treasure to saving and renovating the historic Park Avenue Armory.

Interesting life.
