Airstream Plant Tours temp Suspended.

Airstream has been working to expand it's campus for the past year or so with a new 750,000 square foot facility. Recently it was announced that Factory tours would be temporarily suspended beginning Dec 1, 2019 as the final stages of the expansion are implemented and production and offices are moved to the new facility.

Plant tours will resume in late winter/early spring once the new plant is in full production.

Last call for a tour of the current plant...

Any news on whether the current facility (with service center and teraport) will remain in tact for service or is that moving to the new facility?

I believe the “old” facility will remain.

We took a tour this summer and I believe we were told the current facility will become production for the Interstates.

Hi

Nothing was said about the service facility when we were there earlier in the year. Based on what else is going into the new facility, it's a good bet that service (and some version of the teraport) will move there as well. It is quite possible that the *trailer* side of service will go there and the MH side will stay in the current facility.

I am not sure AS is monitoring all the Forums to answer everyones questions. I am sure that if you gave them a call and asked, all would be revealed.

We were at service center last week and were told the service and terraport will remain where they are - the gift shop/store will move to new facility.

To featherbedded's point: Why in the world wouldn't Airstream closely monitor AirForums? Everything begins with the Customer in any manufacturing endeavor. Customers drive requirements and customer complaints (where the real money is) drives continual improvements.

Hi Folks-

Airstream will begin moving sections of the plant at the beginning of December. The final move will be over our annual holiday shutdown with production to officially start in the new plant January 2nd. The plant tours do not have a specific restart time as that timing is dependent on the office construction completion which is needed to provide customers a place they can safely gather before and after the tour. The offices will be the last to be constructed and we hope it is no later than the end of February/ beginning of March. However, as each of you know, construction time lines are often delayed thus our reluctance in announcing a date.

The service center and the campground will remain where they are today even after the plant move. Although we are temporarily stopping the travel trailer tours , we will still offer plant tours of our motor home factory during the transition.

I hope this helps! Happy Airstreaming-

Airstream, Inc, Thor, and all subsidiary brands have zero to do with Air Forums, which is privately owned. If you want an "official" answer, you would need to contact them directly.

I seem to recall reading an article on this in the September or October issue of the Blue Beret (Wally Byam Club).

Mr Humphries;

Not everyone is a member of WBCCI; so why not start a blog on the Forum that gives up dates from the Mothership as to what is going on? Posts can ONLY be made by you or a delegate.

Any specific Q&A can/will be handled in individual threads.
Case in point,the plant tours.
