Airstream in the news

I just read an article in RV Business mag and AS has announced a new 750,000 Sq ft facility to manufacture the trailers under one roof in a new modern building. It will also house training center for new and old employees along with sales and technicians that come in from the dealerships. Maybe AS is trying to work on the QC issues. The current 255,000 Sq ft building will be used for motorized touring coaches. The $40 mil is supposed to start construction mid year. They are saying the new facility will help the 30% increase in sales they have been sustaining each year and with 24% fewer dealers than their recoRd year or 2006.

At the factory tour, July 2018, they said, $44 million and current production of trailers was 100 each a week. There were a lot of trailers.

This in the Washington Post today...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/road-...m-rv-pandemic/

If a paywall prevents you from reading the article, it is about the boom in Airstream sales, that it will take at least a year to fill existing orders, and that 56% of buyers in the last 8 months are new to RVíing.

Thanks Maggie,

FYI the article opened OK for me, in Firefox with all cookies and Internet history deleted. I think they are allowing some viewing in front of the pay wall, like the New York Times is doing?

Thanks for using this Airstream in the news sub-forum and thread.

Happy trails . . . almost time to sample the road again.
