What's in a name?

Again, I'm a new guy.

My Airstream is a sovereign I think. It also has the tags Land Yacht and International. Do these other badges have any significant meaning?

Since then I have come to understand that I have no idea of the significance of "Land Yacht" or "International".

Well, O'l Wally Byam liked boating. I think he envisioned his Airstreams like yachts on land seeking new worlds.

By the 1960s the base trim level was called Land Yacht. My 66 Trade Wind (another seaman's term) has the Land Yacht trim. The more expensive trim was called International. They had special badging, accessories and luxury appointments. I have an 1966 Airstream brochure that explains these differences.

I'm no Airstream historian, but his is my understanding.

My 72 is a Sovereign/international/Land Yacht.....

It took me some time to figure out its first name from its last, at least I think I know that first and foremost it is a Sovereign, but I am willing to accept correction...

There is a lot of truth there.

In my. 72 I replaced everything but the air conditioner, I mean every system.

On my 75 I got by easier. I only had to replace the fresh water plumbing and the water heater. All freeze damage. Everything else was ok.
