What is this switch for?

What does the switch that is located above the side panel of the refridgerator do? Somewhere along the line the refridgerator 12V was wired directly to the secondary battery.

You've got the original fridge? Correct me if I'm wrong, but 3-way fridges weren't seen much back then (maybe not at all), so normally there would be no 12V to the fridge. If yours is wired for 12V, I'd bet that it's for a small circulating fan (or was) that was inside the fridge.

Alternatively, it could be for a fan that assisted in ventillation up through the plenum behind the fridge.

Could the 12 volt be used for the light inside the fridge? We have a 1979 original Dometic fridge and it is only 2 way (gas and 110 electric).
