Taillights/brakelights

Hello all!

I am hoping you can offer some advice on a quick tailight/breaklight repair and/or replacement.

I need to move my 76 Sovereign and it it popping old lense caps if you simply bump them.

I need to move it ASAP so I don't have the time to purchase vintage units at the moment.

Does anyone know of newer lights will fit the older trailers? I have a service center near by but they weren't 100% sure.

Thanks!

Mikal

P.S. I will be making the repairs in a field just outside middle of nowhere so my tools will be limited to a cordless drill and my hands.

You can use a temp set of lights strapped to the bumper and run the wiring to the tow vehicle. Magnetics will work if you can get them on the frame rails. If the problem is just the lenses use some duct tape to hold them in.

Would that prevent the breaks from working?

Lots of things. Do you have a brake controller on your vehicle? Broken wiring and corrosion in the brake assemblies are the usual culprits. Make sure the plug from the AS to the Tow Vehicle is wired correctly.

I am sorry I wasn't clear with my question.

Would bypassing the lighting system with a light bar prevent my breaks from working?
