Stayin' Alive Doing Our '75!!

O.K. gang...we just bought a 1975 31' Sovereign...we are undertaking a re-furbishing as we speak...I will try to keep you all updated on our progress.

The trailer was in pretty good shape when we got it in...we are thinking about doing some custom cabinet work...I will try to attach some photo's of it with this thread...

Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Gene

She/he (???) looks light and bright--nice interior so it must have been well cared for. How are you redoing your exterior color stripes? Ours are ragged and need some TLC or a major redo. Lucky you for the find! ~G

Gene,
Welcome to the Forums and a very nice looking 75 there. What was the build date? The plate with the info is on the left lower corner. FWIW my last four on VIN is 3595 and IIRC the build date was May 15 1975 ( I will have to check when I get home) My unit is in a state of destruction at the moment.

Very nice looking trailer, looks just like the one parked by our house My advice is to check for leaks everywhere. For sure around the blue band. Re-seal everything on the outside. But most of all get out and camp!!!

i'm no electrican, but....

that is the polarity indicator light.

basically that light comes on only IF you plug into shore power...

with reverse wiring/polarity

search the forums for univolt or polarity threads or check the elctrical threads for more details...

IF it still is in working order and that light comes on....un plug quickly.

or is it the other way around...?

cheer

hey g
did you get the owners manual with that unit?
this is covered in the owners manual as i recall.
might be a good idea to pick up a 1975 owners manual.
this will come in handy for all of the original systems...

Previous owner shares a word

I'm so pleased that our Airstream went to such as lovely home as Gene's. We have so many fond memories of the role it played during special times in our lives and hope to own another someday.

While my husband built our house, we lived 1 year and 8 months in there! It was cozy yet my husband set up his home office and we entertained guests numerous times, including my in-laws visiting from overseas! Our son, now 3 yrs old, was conceived in the Airstream. Nine months passed (yes, I could still fit in the shower!) and we moved out on his due date - he was born 10 days later. Since then, a few friends made use of it, though not us. We did enjoy it and are glad we didn't live in a different brand of camper. So - happy trails to Gene and his family!

Everything looks better after a bath!!!

Well we just gave our 75 it's first bath since we bought it last month...it sure looks much better...

We are taking everything out from the bathroom forward starting today...we have already taken out all of the curtains and curtain tracks and getting it ready for the interior makeover.

We did put some stainless steel rock guards on the front but they just don't fit right so we have some others on order...anybody out there done this! If so, what size did you use?

Here are some pics after the scrubbing!

Nice trailer! My find fit our budget, and I cannot complain. It is in a shape I hesitate to describe. When we brought it home it needed scrubbing from the estimated 5 or so years sitting under a tree in a field. Also, the floor was soft/missing under some areas. Here are several pics so you can reinforce your pride in your find and progress.

As stated before one good looking trailer. Was it re-clearcoated or kept inside all the time? What did you use to wash it?

We have not pulled the carpet up yet but floor does feel OK so we are hopeful that we don't have any problems.
