Gene...I am about 2 years ahead of you and moving sllloooowwwwllly
I have a 1975 that I am almost done with the gutting of, then I can do some rear frame repair and rear end separation repairs. Then I get to start putting it all back together. I would recommend starting at the front with the removal process, working to the rear. Make sure you have decent sized storage area...I am using my other half gutted Airstream for storage
While you have it apart, poke along the walls, especially under windows to check for leaks that have resulted in floor or frame damage, even pulling a few of the lower panels might be a good idea. That is where the bulk of my damage was located. I have been told that going back is easier than the tear down...I sure hope so. Take lots of pictures so you can see how things fit back together. I would also strongly recommend the
Airstream Service Manual from Airstream. If all fails PM me I have a copy and can send you scans of the hard stuff.
