Talking REDO, REPLACE, '74 Sovereign

I just started to gut my 74 soverign. Big time rotted floors and some other minor issues. I so far have stripped 80% of interior and working on removing the bathroom and twin beds in rear.
Frame is in great shape in the front and I will POR-15 that. I am storing the parts all over since I dont have much room and am doing this renovation outside in glorias maine winter weather. LOL
As soon as the inside is gutted, I will drop the belly pan to get at things and then install the new floor. Before that happens, Im trying to find a place inside to recaulk all the vents, windows and seams.
If I could figure how to add photos to the post Id show the work.

Sounds like you have your work cutout for you.

Here's a post with photo attachment information.

Make sure you put everything in bags with very descriptive labels. 6 months from now, you may not remember which screws with to which hinge. Take a lot of pics and measurements of exactly where things are. Taking a little time on the tear down and making lots of pics will save you a lot of time during the install.

Or, just throw that stuff away. I for one think that the original interiors are u.g.l.y.

Or keep it for templates; wall curves, heights, hardware, etc.

Not so easy to re-create those sizes if/when you want to replace or upgrade them.

Thumbs up Where am I at

Ok folks it has been a long cold winter and I didnt get as much done as hoped and know its summer and I am back to working on the AS when it isnt pouring out. So far todate I was trying to replace the floor by only removing the lower inside skin. Well, that approach worked for the first 3 sheets then I found major mice mazes (pathways) under the skin.
Sooooo, I decided to gut the whole trailer and was amazed of the damage these little guys did.
Since the last post, Ive removed everything from trailer but the 3 door closet, Removed all the insulation in the walls, Reworked the wire harness and main AC power coming in, patched some leaks, I got the new bath room window in ( got broken from vandals) before I got the trailer.
I will try to get some photos in here, if I can recall how, LOLOL
More to come, later
Keith

Refurbishing 1974 soverign, part 2

OK many have asked where I am at and I havent been on much, so here are the details and I will send some photos shortly soon as I figure it out.
  • Removed and replaced entire floor with shell on.
  • POR-15 Entire frame and riggers.
  • Replaced 4 ft of rear main frame that was rotted(str side).
  • Replaced 3 rear cross members, with new modified box frame members.
  • Replaced 4 street side out riggers(rear).
  • Replaced 3 curb side out riggers(rear).
  • Installed new 110V AC wiring, removed old 2 circuit breaker from rear of trailer and installed a Furrion 30A Inlet and a Progressive Dynamics 4045 converter distribution Panel to handle AC/DC.
  • Replaced R-11 Belly Insulation and added an additional layer of Owens R-10 Closed cell Poly Board, giving me R-21 value. All foam board was sealed with Alum tape to frame.
  • Replaced new Belly pan entire length to include all side wraps over out riggers.
  • Replaced bath room window new. old one was broken into and wasnt ever found.
  • Removed Old TV antenna and sealed hole ( may replace at a later time).
  • Removed all windows and compartment doors and replaced gaskets, locks, shined the ALUM.
  • Found and fixed all leaks in shell (4 roof,2 ext lights, wheel wells and Rub rails).
  • Installed new 10 Gal atwood water Heater w/bypass valves for winterizing.
  • Installed new 42 Gal water tank.
  • Rebuilt Battery compartment and Door. New battery also. Later will be adding solar panels and more batteries.
  • Rebuilt Thetford Waste valves,40y old gaskets not good.
  • Had new thicker alum Black Tank pan built, grey tank was OK, replaced both pan's Insulation and heat registers.
  • Replaced all Exterior clearance lights, replaced round tail light canisters (4 total).
  • Replaced 1/2" copper Water line with PEX.
  • Replaced 3 ceiling vents with Fan-tastic vents.
Well folks I think that is it. Once im done with belly pan, I will rebuild main and branch propane lines, hook new regulator and tanks up. Then order the two new axles, tires and rims. Then its on to building the interior

Wow, that is one heck of a list, Viper2!

Can't wait to see the photos. Have a look at this thread, post #7 to see how to do the photos.
