My new/used 1975 Sovereign!!!

What's up fellow Airstreamers! I am new and a Jabroni to the old school Airstream world! We spent 8 days at Lake Thurmond the day we bought our Airstream and it was the best time we've ever had with the kids! Hooked is an understatement. We are headed to Charleston SC after the Forth and can't wait! My 1975 Sovereign may have issues but I don't care at this point. She appears to be solid enough to travel and enjoy with the kids and that's all that matters now! I may have a few questions later, but for now all is well. The F-150 is saddled and ready to roll and pic's will follow later! Thanks for the forum and hopefully I can learn alot from ya'll!!!
Sincerely, Air Jabroni.

Sorry for not uploading the pics last night... but here she is!
This is her at our very first campsite (first of many to come)! Although my wife insists it's not a she, but a "he" and nick named it McDreamy!

The people we bought it from did a good job of installing an L shaped seating area. However, I would love to go back with the original gaucho and credenza if anyone could help. We want to keep the inside as original as possible as we love the 1970's interior!

Hi there Jabroni!

Your trailer looks like it has been well-loved over its lifetime. I would not be in a big rush to take away the L-shaped couch, I think it makes the most space from the 31-footers of the first half of the '70s. Give it a little time, and see if you don't come to agree with me...

All the best, and don't hesitate to ask questions, you will be pleased to find the depth of the help available to you should you ever need it!

I agree Aage, we are going to enjoy her like she is and maybe do something later with the couch area. The trailer seems to be pretty solid although my curiosity is getting the better of me about the frame. I'm almost afraid to look with all I've been reading on here about frame replacement and repairs. I think the issue I may need to resolve here in the short term is the axles. On flat pavement the trailer is lower on the curb side about 2" measured at the wheel wells. I would like to upgrade them and get the sealed bearings if that's an option. I have the capability to change them myself, I just don't want to order the wrong ones like I've read some of the other members have had issues with.

Hi All,
I, too, am newbie, with a 1975 international. Have always wanted one and at last! HeighHo (Silver) is mine. Anyone old enough to remember that?!
I am a pretty capable woman but sometimes a little overwhelmed. I don't have a truck yet, I have it on Lake Binder in Corning Iowa for the season....electric, fire pit and picnic table. No motorised so quiet and peaceful. Some questions.....I just filled the water tanks with about 1/2 C bleach/water, will drain and fill again with plain water (hauling 5gal buckets, funnel). Do I need to empty and reload every weekend. I may not get there every weekend, I live 1 1/2 hr away in Omaha. Thanks! Will try to figure pic sending

Love the retro 70's vibe going on- the "starburst" clock and the big flowery upholstery-

It's in good shape from what I can tell from the pictures. Nice trailer!

Welcome aboard Air Jabroni!

Bought the same trailer last year - have made two long trips - would get another just like it.

We are alone and retired so I removed the fold out bed in the front and installed two recliners - after two trips, would do again - more comfortable by far.

With the 2" drop on one side and it's a '75 - I bet you need new axles - they are only good for 20 years or so and max. 25, and it's almost 40 for your trailer. Check with Andy at Inlandland RV to find out if yours haven't been replaced - I bet they haven't. Old ones will beat your trailer apart.

Good luck and enjoy!

I, also, just bought a '75 sovereign but it doesn't look near as good as yours. I plan to do the necessary stuff and work on cosmetics later.

Mine is the side bath with the original gaucho couch. It looks like all of the cabinets and closets are original. The rear bed has been removed and there is only a bed frame there.

Still,lots to do.
