I want to thank everyone who helped a longtime dream come true: I picked up the Airstream from the port in Zeebrugge, Belgium on Monday. On the way to Frankfurt I quickly made this photo, perhaps some of you have seen the original, from the 60´s I think.
So thanks to Bob “Cooking“ Hodges for getting the trailer and myself from the deep bible belt down to the port in Florida and giving me geography and cookery lessons on the way. Thanks to Maryszka and Toshki for their good advice on towing an Airstream with a Range Rover, to Kevin Slavin for getting my hitch mount and ball over to me in 3 days and to Remcolent who helped me get the shipping to Europe set up and to this Forum which has helped enormously in realising my dream.
On Monday I towed the old girl from the port 400 miles to Frankfurt, Germany without a problem. I thought I would have alot of hassle with sway, especially with the high speeds on the autobahn, but she was so quiet and calm back there – I just end up repeating what Bob and some others have said: you can forget that she is back there!
Best and more, Anton
