76 sovereign water heater

Hello,

I am working trying to figure out all the appliances needed to rebuild my airstream. I am having issue in finding a water heater that will work and has the option of getting a stainless door cover. Not sure what I have now, by the look and size of it it could be a 10 gallon old bowen. doesnt matter as what I use as I am planning to replace the outer panel where it is mounted due to a previous patch done beside the water heater. I am looking for a LP/electric water heater with a automatic pilot, and with a silver door option. Been scouring the inter-webs to no avail. Feel like I'm getting lost on this one. I can find some but it looks like i need to either give up on the pilot or make a door for one that fits.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

David

I also own a '76 Sovereign, with a rear bath, and I bought a Dometic dual fuel 10-gallon water heater off of Amazon. Hardly ever use propane, as I don't boondock all that often.
It came with an exterior cover that was painted white, and I just...spray painted the darned thing silver and it turned out better than I expected. Click image for larger version

Thank You DRMOX, That is an option I can use, I also found this unit (Atwood RV Water Heaters - AT94022) that is close to the size of my current unit. I may be able to modify my old one to fit.

I've seen many, including my own, covered with sheet aluminum. Once took a white cover and a sheet of aluminum to my sheet metal shop and said "cover it". Few days later I pick it up and guy says he gave it to a new hire as a project and they mis-understood and made a new cover out of the aluminum. He said, "just have it...". Our shop did a fair amount of work with them and they enjoyed my wacky Airstream projects after a day of their normal projects.
Good luck, Mark D
