Help With VIN #

Help!! can anyone decipher my VIN #. I have searched and searched and no matter what I do, things just don't match up.. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. # 1STBBAJ2OEJ502695

Just So you know, I own a 1984 sovereign 25 ft center bath, rear double.. Now, after researching a little, Airstream does not show a 25 foot sovereign being manufactured.. Only in 1985??? The tag states that the Sovereign was manufactured 6/84.

Thanks Kevin, I really do appreciate the info. The Problem with the VIN, is it is a sovereign, not a classic and a center bath with a rear double.. "BB" in the VIN is the confusing part for me and the fact that Airstream, from my research, did not manufacture a 25 ft. Sovereign until 1985.. But my Vin states "1984" LOL why is it that every time I do research on Airstream, it's like playing detective..LOL.. Again, Thanks again for the info..

With a production date in June of '84 could very well translate into a pre-production 1985 model as Airstream usually has their "next-year" models ready for display at the WBCCI International Rally that runs from about June 25 through July 5 each year. It is possible that it may have been an early test coach for the '85 Sovereign explaining a VIN that isn't entirely consistent with the coach. Stranger things have happened in the Vintage Airstream arena.

I've seen guys swap VIN tags on cars...is it possible this was done to yours? IIRC, isn't the VIN stamped somewhere on the A-frame too?

Just an aside, my '89 Jag had the VIN in 10 different locations.

You most likely are correct in your assumption, the trailer could be a Pre Production Model.. it has the 1984 Sovereign Lettering and the Side decals are smooth vice raised as in the 1985.. It also has two porch lights, one on each side of the entry door..with which looks like, the original interior switches.. I will continue on this journey I have started for myself.. and hopefully I will be able to find the evidence to determine it's beginning.. But we will See..LOL.. again Thank you Kevin for all the Help..

I just took a look at the beginning and ending sequential numbers for 1984 -- the last four digits of the ending number for 1984 was 2727 -- according to this, your coach would have been among the last 32 coaches (of all sizes) produced for that model year. This information is available at this link.
