Charger/inverter replacement.

New charger has screw tight terminal for positive & negative and a terminal for a chassis ground. Old unit is hard wired to 12v system with an extra ground going into charger. Before I cut & strip wires from old unit I thought I would check in here to see if I'm missing something.

Installed new charger seemed easy... That should have been the first warning. I hooked up the neg. on the battery and went back in to check my handy work. Pushed the doorbell on my way in, nothing. Second warning. Inside I saw the A/C power indicator on panel (there is no power source other than battery) and my batt level now reads "low". 12v lights do work...

An absolute guess for what it's worth, Three wires, negative, chassis ground and positive. Could you have them mixed in any way?? Household positive is white, but auto is red, or maybe the chassis ground and the negative is swapped??? OK--the guess is not worth much!!

RV wiring is normally; Black = Positive; White = Negative.
Automotive wiring; Red = Positive; Black = Negative.
First; You need to determine what is what in your coach.
Then connect each wire: Positive to positive: Negative to negative.
If you have reversed the polarity on any wires. You have blown the two large fuses on the converter. They are there to protect the converter from just that situation.
