'86 Sovereign 25' price in '86
I just mentioned in another thread on Insurance for an Airstream that I visited the State Farm agent today who covers my Excella 500. I was curious what the annual cost would be for my newly pruchased '86 Sovereign 25'. He asked me what the purchase price would have been in 1986. Anyone have an idea before I send an email to Airstream (they gave me the '77 Excella price 4 years ago)? Obviously, if the annual premium is based on the price then I sure would not want to give him the retail price but about what people were paying for my size Sovereign at that time.

I'd expand shopping list to new company...
That's such a strange question I'm forced to assume (with all risks associated therein..) that State Farm's Corporate RV Insurance Computer has been programmed to define "Value" for claims purposes as starting with new and working down a depreciation schedule, probably set for typical square box trailers with useful lives of 5 to 8 years... That math doesn't work for a 1986 Airstream at all, and I'd be careful prior to insuring until agent offers in writing a definition of how "Value" will be determined in event of any claims for theft, damage or total loss... Maybe they ask becuase they're supposed to ask, and then over-ride with "Declared Value" or Gold Book value, but I'd sure hate to have some adjustor say that a 20 year old (Airstream) trailer is actually covered at 15% of original purchase price level... (Real FMV might be pretty close to orginal purchase price by now...)

David,
I just posted to the insurance thread and then saw this one.
I looked up the invoice paid for this '90 Excella 25' fairly loaded.
Base Price $28,862 (June 1989)
Options $5,311
Total $34,173
Discount $7,650
Act Paid $26,523
Dealer = Tracy Trigg in Matthews, NC
Question: Does the Actual Cash Value Limits mean limited to book value?

Actual cash value - NOT!
You want to insure your unit with an agreed value - only. This way you know exactly what your policy limits are.
Be aware that some policies will depreciate different items at different percentages, such as awnings etc.
Ask your agent for a copy of the policy they are recommending, and READ IT! They are usually boiler plate, although sometimes re-structured different by each individual company. Ask questions to fully understand the verbiage.

Hello DavidZ71,
Interesting to see that you also went from the Excella 500 to the 86 Sovereign 25'.
I also sold my 78' Excella 500 and purchased a 86' Sovereign 25' and although I really enjoyed the 31' Excella, I like the 25' Sovereign which seems like it will be a good fit for us.
I have an Invoice from Brassfield Travel Trailers, Inc. (the dealer) on my 86' Sovereign which shows a total sale price of $26,311.00. (This Invoice shows Hail Damage Special)
