thoughts on a tow vehicle

in the process of a total resto of a 25' 89 excello 1000 and seriously considering a toyota tundra 4 x 4 as the tow vehicle. with a tow capacity of 9100 lbs & 14" brakes and plenty of HP in my mind it makes sense. Yes i know there are ford, chevy & ram lovers out there, but dependability & resale lets face it toyota really cant be beat AND dollar for dollar they are a better buy. Your thoughts on capacities....

I agonized on going for either a Toyota Tundra or the F250 for towing a 2018 Flying Cloud 25FBT. Finally choose a used 2014 Tundra Platinum , and it has been more than capable of doing the job safely, and with high reliability. Fuel tank is 26gal, and so I evaluated whether to upgrade to a 48gal tank.

Nope I did not do that, cuz we actually enjoy a fuel stop every 3.5 hours to stretch the legs and grab a coffee. So the 26gal tank is perfectly fine. Also the xtra 22 gals of fuel would add 160 lbs weight.

My original hitch was the Propride3, but I struggled as a towing beginner with this hitch, so now using the Reese Steadi Flex, with 1200# bars for both Weight Distribution and antisway. I am comfortable with my Tundra, and have also seen a 26U and a 30 Classic being towed by a Tundra.

I just swapped my 2016 Ford Expedition ecoboost for a 2018 F250 Diesel, towing a 2018 International Serenity 28. I will not go back to a lighter capacity gasser. The diesel tows like it is not even back there...

Gasser: ~400 Ft-Lbs @ 3600
Diesel: ~900 Ft-Lbs @1200

Easy to see which one will last longer pulling a load.
