A/C replacement for '89 Excella
Hello all,
I am in a bit of a quandary. I need to replace our A/C due to a compressor failure. So far the only solution has been to replace it with a unit that allows the condensate to run down the outside of the trailer. Is there a unit where I can use the condensate drain line that already exists or is there a work around? Seems like condensate running down the outside of the trailer would eventually discolor/corrode the aluminum besides being unappealing.
Many thanks,
Bob

What's wrong with a Dometic Penguin?

You can buy, separately, a drain.kit for the dometic penguin. It catches the condensate and pipes it to the existing drain line.

You have several choices. Either you have been looking in the wrong place or getting the wrong information from your dealer/tech/repair person.
Dometic makes their Aux. Drain Kit #3107688.016 for any Pengiun model that will connect into your internal condensate hose and RVP (Coleman) makes several low profile Mach 8 units with their condensate pump.
Either manufacturer is readily compatible with the internal drain hose arrangement that Airstream uses.

88 Excella A/C replacement
Original equipment on this model was a Coleman Delta TX. The existing hole in the roof appears to be 13"x13". I am not interested in the cost of a low profile or Penguin. Will a Coleman Mach series work with the Dometic 'cup' style drain kit?

If you get a Mach 8 series unit, you can order it with their 'condensate pump system' which will automatically feed the condensate directly into your inner drain tube. No other drain kit would be required.
