33-foot Excella?

Somewhere I read that someone wanted dimensions of a trailer they were wanting to ship. So for grins I got out my tape measure. Trailer level on level ground. plumb bob at center of rear bumper and leading edge of ball receptacle. Tape measure tight enough to shoot an arrow thru an apple. Measurement 33 feet exactly. Hum, do I have a morf trailer or what? maybe it's shrinking with age, 86 model, or maybe it started out as a 32 and is growing. One thing for sure at the state parks it's still a 30 footer. Anyone else measured theirs lately, Airstream that is.

Very few of the current Airstreams measure out to the inch exactly as the model number in the brochure.... As others have pointed out, the current 25's are actually 25' 11", so the premium for a 27' model is a little overstated... Designation for some set a while ago, and changes to hitch suppliers and bumper design are probably contributing, but Airstreams are not really sold by the foot, so they allow themselves a little flexibility...

If it has 6 wheels it is a "34 footer" Other designations are at Airstreams wish. Most are rounded down to the next lower foot. This can get you into problems if you build a garage to just fit one (as my friend did). The state parks put limits on size to prevent overcrowding but never measure. When I worked for Johnson/Evinrude motors, we called one motor a 9.5 hp even thou it developed 14.5 hp, because alot of lakes limit you to less than 10 hp.

My service manual lists mine as measuring 34' 11". I'm guessing that's from tongue to rear bumper.

Thanks folks for cutting me down to size. Someone made off in the night with my # 5 & 6 tires! It still feels like a 34.

Look at the bright side, you have two less tires to purchase.

And two less shocks, and two less wheel bearing sets to service, and one less axle to replace when it wears out.....

I still love my long, long trailer, though!
