RV refrigerator cooling kit

Hello all,
We manufacture a add on attachment for the refrigerators that improves the preformance of them, especially in hot weather. We were at the alumniumation rally in NH and had it on display and did a few installs. Our web site is www.snydersrvrefrigeration.com
Speaking of the rally, special thanks to chuck and brian for helping us out on our tow vehicle.

Have you found interest in these devices for newer airstreams?

And, speaking of the rally, special thanks to YOU for fixing the original refrigerator in our Bambi II!!! Brian still has not stopped raving about the work you did to get our fridge working again.

I have installed several of these units on newer Airstreams with excellent results: lower cooling temps in the refer and MUCH less fan noise than the OEM fan. THEY WORK!

just finished installing one of snyder's universal cooling fan kits in my excella.

it is a quality product and does increase the cooling as advertized.

took less than 5 min. (one beer) to install.

We had a kit installed at the Region 1 of o6'. The fridge went from cool to freezing liquids if on full refrigeration.

Dear rv_cool,

Do you have an electronic version of your installation sheets? I bought one of your kits but I can't read any of the photos as the reproduction quality is poor.

Thanks!

We installed our kit about 1 month ago. It's dead quiet when running and it really, really works! We are very pleased.

Snyder's RV Refrigeration Kit

Is this product no longer made? I clicked on the website link and landed on a website in Chinese!

That would be a pretty good indication.

I lot of really old threads are coming up lately.

I'm interested as well and came across this link searching for "Snyder Rv refrigeration". Not sure how much of a help it is.

Some pics of a members installed unit would really help.

I don't believe that Stu is in business any longer. Besides, I have found that adding a couple of computer fans to the upper wall vent or roof vent (if you have one) produces much better results!

Lew, I have a 2010 28' and it has a roof vent. I am looking for insights as how to install fans. Could you describe how this layout works best? (i.e where and how are the fans installed?)

As always, thanks for your help.

You have 2 choices. The easiest (I find) is to remove the roof vent cover and the screen beneath it and place the fans under the screen. It is fairly easy to run a 2 conductor wire down beside the fridge and tap into the 12VDC power supply at the back of the fridge. You must remove 10 rivets that hold down the cover and then 8 more that hold the screen.

This is a seamless operation while I have the cover off for pulling solar cables, cell antenna cables and any other wires that will be for on-roof devices.

The other way is to remove the fridge and work from the inside of the trailer. This also works, since it leaves the cover intact but you have to have a helper to get the fridge out.

I prefer the outside method, even if it was just for the installation of the fans. I also add a fuse to the power cable (I usually use 14/2 AWG marine cable with a 15 amp fuse) and also adda alighted switch in the interior of the trailer for manual operation of the fan. You can go as small as 18 AWG, since the fans I use only draw about 0.15 amps, with a 10 amp fuse.

Remember, a fuse is sized to protect the wire, not the device.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, it does and is appreciated.

I am wondering if this is what is done on the newer models by the factory now?

Lew, I have a 1972 international, a number of years back I bought the Snyder kit but never installed, I can't find instructions, do you now recommend fans in roof vent instead? if so will that work on my 1972? or should I install the Snyder, I liked the idea of having a thermocoupler switch that only turned the fan on when needed.

Steve,

Snyder's kit proved to be not that efficient! You will be far better off using the 'under the roof vent' method, as it will draw a significantly greater amount of air up and across the condenser. I'm also not that happy with the thermal sensor that Stu used in his kits. I prefer the switch (with fuse) for manual control, since you can easily activate the fans in hotter ambient temperatures BEFORE your fridge shows signs of losing it's cooling capacity.

I see,

Do you have any diagrams or pictures showing how you mount the fans, and I forgot the type of rivet I will use to replace the vent.

Thanks for your help!

My trailer does not have any dc power in the refrigerator area, any ideas where to best pull DC from to get power for computer fans to cool fridge?
