Riveting Kit

Many owners have asked for a "riveting" setup, for buck rivets.

We put several things together, and came up with the works.

Part # 28400.

A office interruption caused a flaw in the above post, by being incomplete.

The regular price is $169.95, but our price is $109.95, and, "WITH FREE SHIPPING" anywhere in the USA.

Andy,

That is a VERY reasonable price!!!! Most times that set up without the bucking bar far exceeds that. Thanks for making it so affordable. I will be getting mine soon!!

To do "buck riveting", you need 2 tools.

You must of course have the riveting gun or tool, which is placed on the rivet head.

The bucking bar, is placed on the backside of the rivet, called the shank.

You hold the bucking bar in place, hit the trigger on the riveter, and in about one second, the tools do their job, by swelling the rivet shank, of course under your close supervision.

an OFFICE INTERRUPTION...???
Yikes , does that mean that Terry has re-emerged ?

So ..no rivets inculded in the kit?
Looks to be alot of "bits" (attachments) that have little or nothing to do with rivet bucking.

This is the description from Andy's web site if that helps.

"Riveter Kit, 3,000 blows per minute, standard .401 shank, comes with 1/4" air hose fitting, built in regulator, 1/8" rivet set, 9 other chisels, and bucking bar. FREE SHIPPING!"

Looks a lot like this one. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

It's hard to compete with Harbfrt when they give it away like that.

Or thats a really expensive bucking bar!

And yet, they show another one that appears to be only about riveting. What is the difference?

$99, and no bucking bar.

1/8" rivet set $ 5.50

Plus, it would be good to have a "buckaroo" to hold the bar. Sorry, I guess it could also be a "buckerette" if such a word exists.

The only time I've seen buck riveting actually being done was a couple of weeks ago at the Jackson Center AS plant: there was one person inside the TT with the bar and another on the outside with the gun.

Ouch!
I wouldn't say someone's trying to make a fool of anybody here, just a profit, which is a necessary part of every for-profit business. Packaging this together and offering it for sale as a package adds value to it for some consumers(not this one). The fact that you know where to get it for less just means you are a savvy customer! rejoice in your ability to save money! You rock!

Aage, The riveter in the ad you posted is a "real" riveter as you can tell by the required CFM, twice the amount of the air hammer, requiring twice the compressor to drive it, but a much better product for riveting(at only five times the cost)!

I pretty sure that would only be true if a female kangaroo were a kangarette.

I don't want to buck a trend, but the one in Andy's picture looks like a lot higher quality tool than the Harbor frieight one.

Ken

The devil is in the details. From everything I seen on the forums it is not a good idea to use an air chisel for bucking rivets.

Question for Andy, What brand is the riveting gun in your kit?
