This is from the first FCU restoration rally. And I do think that the camera adds a few pounds.

What brand/model was that rivet gun in the video? The one I have makes much more noise. Maybe I have a hammer. I have put a couple of dents next to rivets when the gun slips. It appeared that the gun you were using does not have much repercussion. Is that because the gun is a very high end gun?

I am about to buck thirteen sections together for the inside rear end cap. Rough guess is 500+ rivets. A better gun would be nice.

This is the gun I used. it does make loud noise though, Linda was just far enough away to it to be muffled on camera

We came up a kit to make it easy for those that want to do some riveting, with reasonable qua;ity tools.

Instead, criticism jumps up all over the place.

Therefore to make it easy for those folks, go somewhere else and buy the parts to make the kit.

Answering questions, we have already done that.

Answering demands, is not within our ability.

We will leave that to those that feel they have a better idea, since they don't like ours.

We are always here to help those, that wish to be helped, in normal positive ways.

Yep, worked great for me, and definitely a much higher quality tool than those from HF (though I own several HF tools and I believe they have their place).

A few months back I also took Kip's suggestions and sampled bucking rivets with a true rivet gun, and an air hammer. As Kips says you CAN use an air hammer, but the difference is night and day. The cost of a real, quality rivet gun is minimal when compared to the cost of a major renovation. If you're doing any exterior panel replacement, just go ahead and get the rivet gun.

Someday I'd love to go to a 4CU Resto rally because it looks like an amazing event for restorers/renovators like me, plus it would be awesome to meet AirForums legends like Ken, Uwe, Kip, Shari, and numerous others.

But if you want something a bit closer, the Texas Vintage Rally offers some nice resto/reno demonstrations. This year it's going to be outside of Houston, near Lake Conroe I believe. Here are the details:

I would be great if someone started a thread dedicated to 'What is a proper rivet gun and why". Any volunteers?
