New Safari Sport Coming!!!

Hey gang,

Just got back from the 2007 A/S dealer meetings and saw the all new
SAFARI SPORT!!

17'...3,500 GVWR
22'...4,000 GVWR

European width narrowshell 7.5' Wide

Full width rear dry bath...GREAT!

This is a great unit for those wanting to get into Airstreaming but have a limited tow vehicle and a limited budget...

Base MSPR on the 17' is $29,985

Base MSRP on the 22' is $34,965

The only options on these units are:
13,500 BTU air
Microwave Convection
Patio Awning
Video Upgrade

I will try to get you the specs soon...

I have a lot of catching up to do after being gone for 4 days!!!

Am I to understand your post that this model does NOT include an awning? How much would that option add to the base cost ?

Other than that, all I can say is "Wow!" This is exciting.

When I bought my 30' Safari Bunk last year, the dealer and I discussed that with the demise of the 30' Safari Bunk, there really wasn't a "family" model in the Airstream brand. He told me then that Airstream was working on a series that would be similar to the "old Argosy" line, but wouldn't be painted and it would be targeted to families and first time buyers. I was very excited to hear that and am very excited to see that come to fruition.

I really am looking forward to seeing more families and younger buyers enter the Airstream family.

I've always loved the tambour doors. Think we'll them on any other models?

While different markets...

I think these will outsell the Basecamp 3 to 1, as they have the traditional Airstream look. I think the Euro body is cool, especially with the wrap windows.

Kudos to AS for bringing something to the market that will be a big seller!!

Finally! After looking at the new units, my main complaint was 'why make them so heavy"! Think vintage, Airstream! I can't wait to see what these look like inside.

Steph,

They do look great on the inside...the back bathroom is HUGE for this model...dry bath at that...all the bedding is convertible like what they used on the 19' 75th Ann. Edition...

You're gonna love it.

That's right Gene.....................you go right ahead and stir the pot!

Just when I thought that the 23CCD Sig was for me, you come out with a 22 that is less weight than my 19CCD. I just might stop by your place on the way back from Oregon in the Fall and have a look.

Wanna trade? (maybe)

Hey Gene -- Great to hear this. They must have had one there for you to see?

Will the frame be normal American welded steel? Any galvanized components like Euro-Streams? I've heard it will be available in fixed shorter lengths like Euro Streams -- good idea!

Tambour? I saw a BaseCamp last week and the tambour was lightweight plastic and not moving the greatest. 303 Silicone would help but this wasn't great to see happening already on a new unit.

Thank you so very much for passing along the Airstream of Arkansas coffee mugs thru Cosmotini to the Midwest Forums rally. It's tough to drive the 600 miles for me but I'll return if you come up from Arkansas. Tikihut comes every year and has a Minuet with the lightwight composite floor if you'd want to do a QUALITY check -- "Tiki" Chris sure likes his. Kudos always Gene!

Bob,

They had both units for us to look at 17 and 22...i thought they were fabulous...

Sorry I could not make the Moraine View rally...but I HAD to go to Vegas and have a blast!!!

My pleasure to send the mugs...I will try to make it next year if the timing is right...

I will be at the October Branson Forums Rally...Can't wait to get out there with you guys and gals...not as a as a dealer but as a STREAMER!!!

We bought Cosmotini's trade in...so we are going to be using it while our 75 is being re-done...taking longer than I had hoped so we are fkeeping this 2004 28' CCD...and we love it...thanks Denny!!!

Frames are to be normal steel from what I have been told...

The tambour doors that we saw were silver...go figure...really neat!!!

Trying to get you all some pics by Tuesday...
