New Book -- Airstream Living

Hi Airstreamers! I'm Bruce Littlefield author of AIRSTREAM LIVING a new book that explores these vehicles' many uses, from vacation travel to permanent residence, from home office to pool house, from on-set accommodation for movie stars to businesses like diners and stores. In addition to beautiful photography, the book includes profiles of real-life owners reveal how they use their trailers to enhance their lifestyle, and vacationers will find advice on how to live well in their Airstreams. Practical advice covers everything from buying your first Airstream, to care and cleaning tips, to solutions for storage, and a directory provides a thorough listing of suppliers and websites. In the coming weeks, I'll be speaking around the country and on TV featuring Airstream CEO Dicky Riegel's '54 Flying Cloud and a 2006 Quiksilver Bambi...

Well I ordered the book. I enjoy reading and I hope this book is as well written as some of the others I have read on the subject of Airstream living.

By the way, for the forum members who suggested jacking up the AS for the winter or when stored for long periods of time, I have now done so. While I was winterizing the unit for a long Michigan winter I decided to relieve the weight from the axles by jacking up and placing jack stands under the frame. It really was simple and I hope effective. As you may recall I was a skeptic until I did some further reading and research on axle "memory". And for the first time I not only blew out the water from the system I also pumped into the system about 3 gallons of RV antifreeze (of course after doing the water heater bypass thing). It felt like I was administering a lethal injection to my rig. What an awful thought.

Thank you! Let me know how you like it. It's full color and the photographs are beautiful (we even shot in Europe, a few are on my profile) and the stories of how people came to find & love their Airstream are great... see you on the road!

I am about as addicted to books as I am to my classic cars and Airstream. It's a rainy fall Sunday morning with my trailer and car tucked away snuggly for the winter, what better time to order another Airstream themed book to read in front of the fire place with a cat on my lap and a hot mug of tea close at hand. First time I've ordered from Amazon so it will be interesting to see how long it actually takes to arrive.

Hey all, Steve at Vintage Trailer Supply, formerly AirstreamDreams, will be carrying the book also, I believe - around 1 Nov.

Just returned from fabulous SC Rally

hi all, author bruce littlefield here:
thank you for ordering the book and for your great comments. i just had the pleasure of speaking at the sc airstream rally in myrtle beach... it was such a great weekend and i met so many wonderful people (and even won second prize in the halloween costume contest with the forum's snadi!) i also met international secretary of wbcci, the lovely colet schmidt and her clever husband frank who designed a litter box for their cat bandit that's in the rear storage compartment and accessible through a cat door beneath their bed! purrfect. the weekend reaffirmed what an amazing community of people this is and just how darn neat the trailer wally designed is. i'll be coming to you live from rockefeller center on the today show saturday 10/29 at 8:30... showcasing a 2006 bambi and a '54 flying cloud! see you on the road! best, bruce

Indeed we (Bruce and I) did fare well in the costume contest at the SC State Rally this weekend!

I have to tell you all that I have my book!!! And Bruce signed it!!! We were lucky enough, thanks to Debbie White (Rally Coordinator), to be able to purchase the books before they actually go on sale (I think they go on sale next week sometime). Bruce came to the Rally and signed our books, played an Airstream Game Show with us, toured our Airstreams, had dinner with us, and participated in our Halloween Extravaganza! What a great time we had. Meeting Bruce was my Rally highlight! We were instant friends and even worked a deal on a silent auction item that included a hand carved chicken walking stick that I wanted and a hand carved family of chickens that Bruce wanted. We both got the chickens we wanted!!!

AND THEN THERE IS THE BOOK!!! It is fabulous! I just got home from the rally several hours ago so I have not had time to read much, but the photographs are great! I can't wait to sit down and read the book.

Bruce was a blast and I highly recommend that if you have the opportunity to attend one of his signings, that you do!

And Bruce, I am so glad we met and I sincerely hope our paths (in our Airstreams, of course) cross again! I'll be watching Saturday morning, be sure to wave!

I ordered two today from Amazon, as well as two of the Limited Edition "Wanderlust" books from Airstream.com. Jack (Craftsman) and I were talking today, and we both agree that they'll be collectibles down the road.

We ordered our copy already 6 weeks ago on amazon.de and hope that it will take a quick route across the ocean when it is released on the 2nd of November (thats what amazon says...).

Damn, I hate to wait for Airstream Books, I am always a little nerve wreck until I have the book in my hands.

... and reading that it is fantastic doesn´t really make it better... Amazon send the book!! PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE:bl ink:

Thank god we are on a holiday in the first November week, otherwise I would have to look into the postbox 10 times a day...

I got a sneak peek at Sandi's copy of the book today during our visit. It looks great and will make a great addition to my library.
As my folks sent me a gift certificate to Amazon I now know what to do with it!
Very cool indeed.

today show help...

hi all:
i'm on the today show on saturday october 29th (8:30 am), featuring a 2006 quiksilver bambi and a 1954 flying cloud....

wondering if anyone who owns these particular models (bambi & flying cloud) would be willing to send me a few particulars. like, what is your favorite feature, what are some of the things that make it special, why did you pick that particular model, etc.)

i'd really appreciate the help and any thoughts on things that i should point out.

best,
bruce

New book is GREAT!

This book really captures the Essence of owning an Airstream - just from the pictures as you go through it. When I look at the pictures, most of them make you say, in your head of course, "Yes, that is why I Airstream!"

Thanks Bruce!

Check out Episode 4 of www.theVAP.com Enjoy it!
