Can someone recommend a reputable Service Center?

Hi. I'm helping a friend of mine, who is also a member of the this forum (screen name boltos) in shagging down some information for getting repairs done to his Airstream.

We've posted for information here previously and found this Site very helpful with the questions we had at that time. We're hoping someone can help us again.

He has a 1970 22' Safari. There appears to be a leak of some sort with either his fresh water tank, or the plumbing to it. He was hoping to take care of this on his own, but just doesn't have the time.

Could anyone recommend a RV Service Center within a 3 or 4 hour drive of Central Kentucky (Lexington) that has knowledge of working on Airstreams? He wants to get the leak fixed, and have all the plumbing (toilet, sinks, shower, etc.) checked out and verified that they are in working order or corrected, if they aren't.

There may be some other items, that I'm not aware of, that he wants looked at too.

We're hoping to hear from someone that has had similar work done and is happy with the service that they received.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps Jackson Center....it might be a few more hours more than 3-4 though.....

Just a thought if no dealers come up.

Yea, we already thought about the nearest Airstream dealers, which are this one and a couple in Northern Ohio. But, we were hoping that maybe some members in this area, might know of something a little closer like, Louisville, Cincinnati, Nashville, Knoxville, etc.

Although it would be ideal if they were an Airstream Service Center, we're hoping to hear of someone that is at least experienced in working on Airstreams.

Thanks for the suggestion though, he may end up going that route if necessary.

It would be different if he had something like a sheet metal problem, but plumbing in a '72 Airstream is pretty elemental. Everything is above the floor or accessible from above the floor.

I think that any competent RV service location could easily handle the problem.

That's what we're looking for, a competent RV Service Center. He already had it at one, here in Lexington, and after a week of calls back and forth, decided to yank it from there and continue looking.

take it to jackson center and put it in the winter program . it will get fixed and be done right. the local rv centers stumble & fumble and charge a arm and a leg to figure how to get the job done. that would be my preference . jackson center is not that far. when i want it done right that is what i do. been there dont that.

Jackson Center, Ohio, the Airstream factory. They have a winter discount on repairs. There are probably still some folks around there that my have built the trailer.

Thanks. I just got off the phone with the guy I'm helping out (boltos) and he was aware of what Jackson Center was. He's going to contact them and get some more information. It turns out, that's where his 1970 Safari was built. We weren't aware that they did repair work too.

I went to the Airstream website and did a search on local dealers and saw the Jackson, Mississippi dealer and that's what had me confused.

Thanks again.

It's easy for me, living in Dayton, to take it to Jackson Center. Even if I was in Lexington, that's sure as heck where I'd take it.
