BRAKES, BRAKES and more BRAKES
We just completed a huge special purchase of 12 inch backing plates, that allows us to substancially reduce the selling prices.
12 inch electric brake backing plates, were $79.00, now $45.95 each.
12 inch electric brake backing plates, self adjusting were $89.00, now $49.95 each.

If anyone has been considering upgrading your brakes to self-adjusting drum brakes, this is the time to consider this great deal. I just upgraded mine last month and it is a fairly simple job (it was my first time). If you need to inspect and repack your wheel bearings, this should all be done at the same time. You'll need to replace the grease seals to do the job right and I'm quite sure that Andy can include these with your order.

Shelf Life
Hey Andy,
Sounds like a great price, unfortunately I rebuilt all my brake assemblies last year. However, at this price it may be worth the purchase for future repair. Is there a shelf life for these units?

Either your a pilot, a crew member, or on some real good stuff.
Shelf life is unlimited, as long as you keep them out of the weather.
There is nothing to age, at least during the first 100 years.
After that, no promises.

What size brakes do I currently have on my '08 Safari SE 25FB? I do have Dexter axles, serial # 121537515 w/ 3800lb rating.
If I indeed have the 12"ers, what all is needed to convert to self adjusting besides the backing plates? Thanks Andy
Edit: typically I would just run out and measure for myself, but my mobility is severely restricted after I got creamed at my last motorcycle race and put a new joint in my right tib/fib. Thanks for any and all assistance.

We do not have any records of Dexter axle serial numbers.
Your Airstream, according to our information, has 12 inch brakes.
There is nothing you need to do to install the "self adjusters" except to remove the old backing plates and install the new.
Obviously the hub and drum must be removed to do that.
You can make the change by pulling one axle up on some 2 x 6's, which will elevate the other axles tires off the ground. After you change out the backing plates, reverse the process with the other axle. No jacks needed.

Unfortunately, 12 inch brakes cannot be installed in place of the 10 inch brakes.
Probably the easiest way you could accomplish that would be to change the axle.
