Can anyone suggest a competent mechanic near NYC that will replace axles, weld where needed, replace floor issues, etc.? and has experience with AS Trailers? Thanks!

GSM in Plattsburg, NY is a good shop, they may have trouble getting you in, they seem to have a backlog of work, but it is definitely worth a call. Colin is the guys name (518) 561-4784

Yes, I have spoke to Colin. He sounds great, but he is 250 miles from me. I was hoping to find someone in the Hudson Valley area, near West Point. This seems to me to be such a great business opportunity for someone who has a gararge, welding and mechanic experience.

You'll have to travel a bit. The only other places I would recommend after GSM Vehicles would be South Jersey RV, who are a bit closer to NYC, and Colonial RV (the local dealer). There is not an abundance of competent Airstream repair shops, so nearly everyone with a vintage unit ends up driving some distance.

By the way, for floor replacement, I would not go near anyone who lacks Airstream-specific knowledge. I've seen too many hack floor repairs lately. Don't be tempted by some guy with a shop who says, "Sure, we can fix that!" if he hasn't got an Airstream himself and plenty of references.

AS Floor repair knowledge Base!

Yes I totally agree with the floor repair comment. I'm doing some of it myself already and you do need to be AS aware!
