Great catch Top! I meant to say 5 new rims and 5 new tires! I've been up for over 24 hours now and I had 6 on the brain for some reason. 5 is the correct number. Thanks!

What a MESS

Well I havent got a single thing done to the AS since I got home. Mrs S picked me up from the Airport in Dallas on Thursday and we drove to Tyler Tx to attend my sisters graduation from college. That all went great, we said our goodbyes and headed out on our two and a half hour drive home and our truck broke down. This is the second time Ive had engine problems with our 08' model truck (only 57,000 miles) which we were going to use as our TV but after our last event its now history. Today I made a special trip out of town and put a down payment on our brand new TV And man ole man is it a beast. She will arrive at the dealership in a couple days for me to pick up. We sure do hope we have better luck out of this brand of truck, got to be better than the last. Ill be sure to get a pic up when we pick it up. I was just to excited not to tell anyone. Tomorrow Ill dive back into the AS project. Hope my new rims show up soon these new Michelin tires sure look lonely with no rims.

Thanks for the welcome back

Thanks for the welcome back guys....As far as the rally in San Marcos we really dont know, we would love to take the AS out and meet up with some fellow ASers but its to soon for us to make a commitment at this point. We still got a lot on our plate. We still need to lay the top floor, install the couch or gancho, the bedroom still has to be put together, and I need to go through the running gear and brakes. Seems like my to do list goes on and on. We did purchase out new bed matress today and Mrs S picked out her bedding today. We hope to be on the open roads very soon. Lets just say were playing it by ear for now.

Yea I did get them. Im kinda not sure about them. There kinda cheap looking. They have a silicone type bead around them that seems to hold the I'm guessing sand in? I dunno I was expecting alittle more quality for the price. But then again I may be wrong, I've been wrong many times before. Have you gotten yours? What's your thoughts?

I haven't ordered any. I just got my tires balanced at Discount Tire today. She has the original rims, original hub caps, eight year old Nanco 7.00x15 Chinese tires. I doubt I'll buy new tires until later on in the summer.
As far as the Centramatics are concerned, I have only watched the videos from their web site. I once saw them at the Mid America Truck show in Sioux City, IA in 1989. They looked high quality then. I guess things change. I don't think I'll be buying them. I don't think there is a substitute for quality tires, good wheels and regular tire balancing. I have thought of taking the hub/drum assembly to be dynamically balanced at a machine shop that can do the work.

Well I'm going to be honest. I think the centramatics are poorly made. There very thin and the silicone substance all the way around the inner portion really doesn't impress me much. I'm going to run them since I have them but If they don't hold up for long I'm not going to replace them. They may prove me wrong and for the price I hope they do. Time will tell. I think I could have gotten away without running them and done like you said, Rotate and balance regular and keep a close eye on wear patterns and tire pressure and I'd have been fine.
Eight year old tires huh?? Your braver than me the last thing I want to do is change a tire on a trip. Or have damage because I was running on old tires. Mine I have now aren't to bad but two have wore pretty good on the outside. Kinda has me wondering why.? But I haven't found the first weight on them either.

While I was at work I seen a Excella bumper on eBay that was used but in really good condition, so I bid on it and won. I just opened the box it came in and found this little surprise inside. It's a Tervis cup with an Airstream patch inside. Mrs S was so excited and so was I. Just goes to show there are still thoughtful good hearted people out there.
We know they sell these cups at Bed Bath & Beyond but have never seen them with Airstream logos. Does anyone one know where we might find more cups like this? They would be great to keep in the AS.

Special thanks to the person that sent it to us with our purchase. Just incase they might be a fellow forum member!

Well today I made good progress. I got all the old tiles up today through out the entire trailer. Yay! I got the new carpet laid, got all the water inlet lines hooked up and checked for leaks, all the bedroom and end tables are now in place. We now have a bedroom with solid floors! I tried to get a pic but it didn't turn out to great, done the best I could. Tomorrow ill start laying our new flooring. Mrs. S gave it her approval. She had a huge smile.
I should have started laying the floor today but it was such a great day here in far east Texas I just couldn't resist giving a little attention to another toy of mine.

Dang! That is a whole lot of progress! Great work, as always. It was a nice day here in central Texas as well. Looks like a fun scooter. When do you get the new truck?

Yea I hit it pretty hard today, started at 0400 hrs, trying to make up for lost time. I called and asked about my new truck today, they said it should arrive on Thursday but worst case Saturday. (Its bad when a dealership tells you there waiting to get all the trucks on the trasnport they can do to high gas prices.) Im hoping for Thursday, you never realize how much you need a truck until you dont have one.

I also called about my rims for the AS. They havent even shipped them yet said they would ship them ASAP...Sounds like someone dropped the ball over in Cali!

Well I haven't done anything to the AS since my last post of the bedroom. I've been sick and at the same time trying to help my sister with her wedding. Mrs S was a huge help saving the wedding it was almost a disaster. But now I'm better and we got my sister and her new husband off and married. So today I can get back in the AS mode.
O by the way I went and picked this up on Saturday.
