Question weight question

Does anyone have the weight on a 1969 23' Safari?
The trailer I'm interested in has a single axle. What year did A/S go to a double axle on 23' Safari's or did they ?????????

Thanks....Steve

Go to www.airstream.com and click on the FAQ frequently asked questions section. Scroll down and you will see a section on trailer weights. Click on it and you should be taken to a long list of years, trailer models, dry weights and ball hitch heights. I tried it a couple minutes ago and it would not come up for me. If it won't come up for you by tomorrow, PM me and I will look at the list I printed out and stored in my trailer.

I looked again at that chart from AS:

1970 to 1976: the weight varies from 3410 to 3680 (with the exeption of bath across back: 3850) : no increase in weight from 1969, so must still be single axle.
The 1977 are 3800 & 3850. (rear bath ?)

If they added an axle I think it can only be in 1978 where the weight went to 3905.
Difference from 3400Lbs to 3900 could be that: weight of axle + 2 tires + brake drums. ? Does that sound right ?

But it's just my guess, playing with numbers.

Took the plunge four years ago, parking my Safari so my stepson could have a bedroom outside our house. He's gone now, and I'm getting ready from some adventures!

I'd like to know how much the trailer weighs. I searched this thread (and others) and the recommended links -- like the one from Airstream.com's FAQ section -- are broken.

I'd like to know the gross weight and the tongue weight, although I must admit I don't really know what tongue weight is or why it matters.

Thanks.
