Safari 1964 22' Twin Manual available FREE
Hi there all
I have just purchased our project, a 1964 22' Safari which, when I get my daughter to show me around this site I will get pics up and show the restoration process whilst asking all you kind people for advice. IMPORTANT find in the airstream at the back of a cupboard was the manual, all there exceot for 2 pages. I intend to scan this and create a pdf to make available FREE to all Airstreamers that have the safari 1964 22' twin. How would I best make this available to all??, any thoughts suggestions?
I am going to be on this forum a lot, asking questions of safari owners as well as all others so its the least I can do.
Let me know where I would best place this ... I look forward to my airstreaming days to come, hopefully next Summer ... I am based in Tampa Florida.
Best
Rob

This is exciting! I do not have the manual for my '64 Safari Twin! Please start by adding the PDF as an attachment to this thread. Then we can download it from there. Go to the "Go Advanced" when you reply. Click on the paper-clip, and you can add the PDF in that manner. Shout if you have issues, and thank you very much for this!!!!

No Problem Tim
Give me a couple of days to tape the torn bits together, get rid of the squashed spiders then scan, at the moment there are only 2 missing pages that I can see ... should have it up for people who want it next week

Hi Walter
I appear to be missing page 8:3 (and 8:4 if there was one)
Best
Rob
Am I right in thinking that with the your jalousie windows like mine ours hail from Ohio whereas Tim aboves has the double jalousies hailing from California ???

Mine is from California. I have different interior windows on the sides as well. My tail lights were also different. My trailer might have been considered a "double" rather than "twin", but we have more similarities than differences. I assume the double jalousie's was by special order, but I do not know for sure.

Rob, my '64 Safari is from Ohio. I got it from original owner in Illinois, it looks like your photo but had different heater cover under galley window.
Hmm, excellent question: What else was different Ohio vs California built in '64 Safaris?

Chapter 8 The Refrigerator
Hey Rob,
You made me look. Can't get to my '64 Safari manual (uphill, snow both ways) but have original manuals from a '64 Globetrotter and '66 Sovereign here.
Chapter 8 gets, uh, complicated....but I think I decoded it.
Chapter 8 The Refrigerator
1964 Quote: "During the model year four refrigetators were used in Airstream trailers."
My 1964 Airstream Globetrotter Owners Manual has all four versions intact and a yellow page telling owner to "identify the model in your trailer, remove this sheet and the following sheets which do not apply to your refrigerator"
Models:
Dometic gas (Ceramic burner) (numbered 8-1 to 8-4)
Dometic gas (Metal burner) (numbered 8-1 to 8-2)
Dometic Gas-Electric (numbered 8-1 to 8-3)
Norcold Gas-Electric (numbered 8-1 to 8-2)
I have ALL the pages and the yellow sheet telling you to remove excess pages.
Glad to share but no scanner. Kinkos?
Also: noticed page 3-4 is in spiral binding upside down
Walter

I think I found it Walter amongst other receipts and bits stuffed in the same cupboard ... T'was simply a diagram, so I am good to go, I'll try to get it up ther this weekend ... Goodness me you have snow, of course ... It was below freezing down here in Tampa yesterday ... Love your safari ... I need to change the awning and would like the one with the metal wrap when it's closed is that possible or does the whole awning structure need changing to a zip see??? ... What have you done ... My awning came with trailer. Previous owner installed it. A&E from Camping World. I would NOT install it the same way. Zip Dee seems to be the way to go.

1964 Safari 22' twin Manual FREE pdf
OK
Sorry chaps
Uploaded the 1964 22' Safari manual, it is a (now smaller) pdf file (less than 10mb) ... also uploaded is a page (2.2) omitted ... sorry, but at least its there for all now.
As it kinda takes up a lot of my allotted 'space', I'll leave it up on the forum for about 3 months .... if it isn't there when you want it (in the future) just email me at robert@londonburns.com and I will be happy to oblige and email to you
Best

Awning 'approach' question ... please help
I wonder if anyone can help me ... I THINK I have a carefree awning setup and I have looked in the forums and they have very good info on replacing the fabric on this system, which is what I would like to do. How do I set about doing that though, I don't really like the awning colours at carefree but do from the sunbrella range ... do i contact carefree or sunbrella?? ... or do i take the existing fabric off, measure it and simply ask for that size to fabricated ??? .... Never having done it before, I'm looking for advice on how to best approach this whilst being cost effective. Thanks in anticipation.

Rob:
You will want to go to awnings here, and post a New Thread. This will get your issue better visibility.
