Dual battery box modification

Trying to change out my group 27 battery to two golf cart 6 volts to increase my amp-hour capacity. Weight and limitations to fit a dual 6 box are brutal.
Working on having a fabrication shop form a 10 gauge channel that will be welded to replace my OEM bracket. More to follow.

Have you had the opportunity to weigh since you made this modification? Did it increase the tongue weight substantially?

What dimension battery box did you get?

I'm considering doing the same thing.

Haven't weighed tongue since modification yet but I'm guessing I added about 83.4 lbs.
Battery box details $49 plus shipping are here:
Century Plastics: White Heavy Duty Battery Box - (part#: GCE-G)
The batteries weigh 66.7 lbs. each and were purchased at Costco @ $167.98 each.
Reserve capacity-20H Golf Cart 6V-GC2 Interstate each = 232
Reserve capacity-25H for the one 27SMR Interstate 12 volt = 160

I added 83.4 lbs. tongue weight and more than doubled my reserve battery capacity.

Slightly ugly, but a PO of mine put two batteries on the rear bumper. So mine has three. Someday I'll do the math for how many AH that translates to so solar can be added.

There are some nice ones. Around 200. Most look like truck tool boxes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00V8N...minum+dual+box

Liftco makes one without diamond plate. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LXF...y+box+aluminum

I would be concerned with putting the weight of three batteries
On the back bumper. It would significantly change the trailer’s tongue weight, and possibly cause handling problems.
