What size door?

Okay, I need a place to put the 68 Safari Twin 22 footer and so my wife is giving me a new metal building. Now, gotta come up with measurements. How tall is my Airstream? I eyeballed it at a little over 9 1/2 feet so figure a 10 high door X 10 wide. Anyone have the specs sheet with the height listed? I don't have it. Would sure appreciate any help. I currently have the older AC unit on top and will replace it with a newer (lower?)

The height will vary depending on the angle of the axles, tire size and type of AC unit on the roof. A 10 foot door should accommodate 99% of all Airstream trailers.

Lay light board like a 1x2 across the top of the air conditioner shroud that sticks out beyond the side of the trailer. With the board held level measure to the ground. Add 6" to the measurement just to be on the safe side. You should be good to go.

I would go a minimum of 12'x12'. It will be much easier to get in and out. The difference in cost for the bigger door is nothing compared to the first scratch in the side of the trailer.

Howdy All! Sorry it took so long to get back, but I was busy helping with the construction of a 24X 30 metal building for Kampy, my 1968 22' Safari Twin Airstream. I ended up putting in two 10 X 10 roll up overhead doors: one at each end in a drive-through arrangement. And I now have Kampy under cover and I am ready to tear into the floor. The inside has been completely removed. I suppose the shell removal is next. Sure wish there were an easier way to get rid of the nasty smells under the floor and to not have to replace all the floor. It is rotted out around the back and where the water heater was and also one place up by where the refrigerator was.
